  1. Does anyone here have any experience hunting Siloam Springs here in Illinois? I am going to be down there from Nov. 5th-20th to bowhunt then gun hunt the first season. I have never been down there but needed a place to hunt this season and got lucky and drew a gun permit. I'm not looking for any secrets just general info. I know that the Buckhorn unit is archery only and heard that the main park gets a lot of pressure but that's all I know right now. I have plenty of time to scout, just would like to hit the ground running if I could.
  2. Ok this topic hits home for me. Let me start by saying I have been deer hunting since I was 13( 22yrs) and have never lost a deer until last year. I honestly put what looked to be a "perfect" shot on my biggest buck to date. He was broadside at 25yrds standing perfectly still and I put the arrow right at the "crease", he ran about 50ft, stopped looking back, then just walked away. Now normally I would have put another shot on him but he stopped behind some junk and I figured my shot was money. I gave hime about 45 minutes and found my arrow and blood immediatly, followed by a blood trail a 2yrd old could follow right to where he stopped to look back where there was a big pool of blood. That's where things go south, from that point on there was NO blood!!! I could see him when he walked away for about 120yards so I know his direction of travel and could find nothing. This made me absolutley sick!!! My buddies helped me look for this deer for 3 straight days and could not find anything. So i'm not saying its the norm to put that perfect shot on a deer and not find it but it does happen. I wish I knew what happened?

    Arrow help?

I am looking for some new arrows and was wondering what everyone likes to shoot. I've been shooting the BPS Carbon Lite Supremes for a long time and thought about trying something else. I knwo there are pros and cons to just about anything out ther and don't want to start a war here just curious what you guys like. Any recommendations?
  4. I couldn't agree more and we won't have another N wind here until Sunday.
  5. It's the moon but on the bright side it will be rising later each day and by next week will be up most of the day instead of all night. It should keep them on their feet most of the day!!! And I am on vacation starting Saturday.
  6. I am stoked!!! I start my vacation tommorrow and have the next 9 days to hunt as hard as I can. Saw 2 nice ones last weekend and hope to meet up with one again.

    Foiles?

I've heard a lot of "rumors" from some people in the know but until I see something offical they are just that " rumors." However I will say one telling sign is that he is no longer advertised in any of the FA ads this year in the catalogs or magazines, odd? But like I said I will continue to give him the benefit of the doubt because I like his calls and have met with him on a couple occassions and he seems like a pretty good guy.
  8. It's been kinda slow here so far. Went out Sunday evening and only saw a doe and button buck. I did see a 1 1/2 yr old 6 pt trailing 2 does last week, but no mature bucks on there feet yet. Hopefully they get started this weekend!!!
  9. Try any of the Buck Gardner Spit Tech calls. They are guaranteed not to stick!!
