We're getting ready to head to Stueben County tonight for some hunting. I'm excited because we get to hunt for 2 days with bow before shotgun opens up. It's been a few weeks since bow season ended here. I think the last time I shot my bow was before turkey season closed on October. Some turkeys were on our proerty so i thought I would take a whack. I ranged them at 22 yards, aimed at the biggest one and shot. They didn't really moved so I figured I must have missed and decided to take another shot. I went to range them again and was shaking so bad i couldn't get a reading! I told my Dad about and he laughed, saying if I got buck fever over a turkey, what would I have done if it was a buck? Found out a few weeks later when a 6 point stepped out in front of me with a 4 point. All of my hunting training paid off though because I could only see both deer from the neck up and wasn't comfortable taking a shot. I just watched them walk away and haven't seen them since. That made up for my buck fever in my Dad's eyes, as he was a hunting safety teacher here in NY for several years.
