  1. I was just wondering if anyone shoots a heavier broadhead with their compound bow. ie. 150 to 200 grain heads. I was thinking of trying it out. I shoot Easton Axxis ST 340, will that arrow hold up with that heavy of a head. I shoot a Bowtech Allegiance set at around 70 pounds.
  2. I am after a set of alluminum rapid rails if anyone has any they wiuld like to get rid of.
  3. Age Guess Would Be Around 5 Or 6 Her Teeth Were Really Wore Down
  4. This old girl got hit with the wrath of the two blade Rage. The third of the season to get dropped. I was amazed at the wieght of this Doe.
  5. This deer was taken by bow and was taken in rural Southern Illinois on some old strip mine ground. Yes we grow them big down in the southern part of the state too. This thing taped out around 210 green and went 250 pounds field dressed. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING CONGRATS TO THE HUNTER:eek:
  6. Well I took my son out for the first time last night. We sat in a blind in a small white oak thicket surrounded by beautiful hardwoods. We did not get in the blind until 5:40, I did not now if he could sit any longer. You have to understand he is 2. Well anyway we got in and zipped it shut and wouldn't you know it I did not even have my release on and we had a Mature doe and her little one staring into our blind from 15 yards. I was able to get my little buddy on my lap and he watched both deer for a few minutes before they got nervous and ran off. About 15 minutes later we heard something and looked out of our blind and there stood an 8 pointer at 35 yards, tooo small for me to shoot but awesome for him to watch. I let him blow the snort wheeze at the 8 point and scared the bejesus out of that little buck. about 20 minutes later we had another 2 does come in behind us were we had no shot options. Well that mature old doe knew something was out of place because she was slowly making her way around the blind and blowing at us. My little buddy thought that was awesome. He told me to shoot tht deer so I had to draw and stuff my rear arm out the front window and smash myself up into the corner of the blind. By this time it had gotten close to last shooting light, I had a shot that looked clear so I settled my 20 yard pin and let one go. At about 10 yards I saw my arrow hit a small twig and deflect right into a small white oak. My son thought that it was hillarious. Even though I did not get that deer that was not the reason I was out there. Heres to enlightening and guiding the little ones in the ways of the wild and the ways of God!!!! What a blast.
  7. That Is Actualy The Bottom Of A Wd-40 Can. My Buddy Killed One This Morning He Shot A Mature Doe 105 Feild Dressed And He Hit Her A Touch Forward And Destroyed Both Shoulders. She Went About 120 Yards. I Will Post Those Pics Tommorow. He Also Shot Her With Rage Two Blade. The Entry Hole Is Unbelievable.
  8. This was a complete pass through from 30 yards on a mature doe.
  9. Well I went out opening day in Southern Illinois. It was a little warm but fantastic. Early in the morning before the sun was up I was getting ready to rise from my seat due to the fact that it was almost prime time. I looked over my left shoulder and there was nothing and I then looked over my right shoulder and there stood at 15 yards about a 160's 10 broadside. Well it was still dark enough that only my 20 yard pin was glowing and he was moving down wind. I went ahead and took my chances and slowly stood up. Well the big old buck new what was up and caught my movement and hopped back toward the thicket. He paused briefly too look up at me and step out of my dreams. The buck disappeared but did not seem spooked. That buck lived to die another day. Well I decided to brave the heat that afternoon and go back out to a different location. I was wanting to test the new 2 blade rage broadheads that I had purchased. There was not much action that warm opening afternoon just 4 tom turkeys that kept me entertainied in the picked corn field. I had not seen a deer all evening and at last light I decided to pack it up and head home. I had taken off my release and took my harness off and stuffed everything back in my bag. The only thing left was to put my bow on my back pack and head out. Then I heard it the distinctive crunch of something walking in the picked corn. I had already put my headlamp on to leave when out popped a deer. I could not see to shoot into the woods but I could still see into the corn. I noticed that the deer looked to be a good sized doe. I almost let the deer walk but hte urge to test the new equipment got the better of me. So at around 27 yards I drew back and settled my pin behind the shoulder and touched the release. I heard the distinctive thwack sound as the arrow met its mark but I could not see were exactly it hit nor if it had passed all the way thru. I watched as the deer trotted about 20 yards and stopped and began to wobble it then went about another 15 yards were its legs gave out and it crumpled to the ground. I climbed from the stand emmediately and went to the spot were the deer had been hit and sure enough there lay the arrow and broadhead intact coated in crimson gold. I took up the blood trail just to see how the head had done. I walked to the spot that the deer had paused and noted that it looked as if someone had dumped out a pitcher off blood. Walking up to the deer I could see the entrance hole it was unbelievable I could almost place my fist in the entrance hole and the exit hole was about half that size. I was impressed. I took a picter of the hole before cutting the deer up but I used my cell phone and I do not know how to post pics from there. (If any one can post from there cell I will take your number and send the pic too you and you can post it) The picture is of the hole and a wd-40 can bottom next to it and they are almost the same size. God bless the great deer hunting that we are blessed with in Southern Illinois...

    found dead deer

Yes we have had an epedimic of it in southern illinois some guys have found as many as 10 dead on 200 acres in one creek. It is from blue tongue disease. The one guy found a 180 inch 14 pointer dead on his ground sucks. It is just natures way of knocken down a few. We had the same thing in 2004 it comes from the drought that we had thru the summer and from the lack of rain. From what I gather it comes from some bug that is more abundant in stagnent water.
  11. I always go by the policy if I have shot one that is bigger than the one standing in front of my bow then it walks. That is unless it is very unique. That is just my policy for management on our lease. We have a lot of guys around here doing that and our deer seem to be getting bigger and bigger. I posted a pic of a 10 pointer on here and that pic was taken in an area were there are several bowhunters and thank god they are very picky. If we need meat we just wack a couple of does. Just my two cents. But to answer your question the big one is close but witout the velvet he probably will not make it. If he is a trophy to you than whack him.
