  1. What an amazing buck. That is really cool to have some nice trail cam photos of him as well. What a dandy looking buck. Congrats! Now you have to top that one.
  2. Heck of a nice buck. Congrats. Love the dark brown on the top of the head. Never seen one like that before. Nice pics as well. Happy Huntin!
  3. Hey slughunter i think Tink has every right to bash Wisconsin if he wants. I live in this state, bow and gun hunt and i bashed it myself. I think this state has the worst DNR in the country. They have people in these jobs that got there because of political reason not because they wanted to really help the sportsman out. They are slaughtering these deer because of big name auto insurance companies and agencies alike. Explain to me how the state wants to have a herd goal at around 700,000 thousand or so deer and there are over 600,000 thousand gun tags sold. If everyone of those gun hunters shoots a deer there won't be any left. This state is a joke when it comes to trying to manage its animal herds. They were way high on deer numbers and way low on bear numbers. Somebody doesn't know what they are doing. And its these people who are in charge. Not saying its an easy job by no means, but these people don't seem to know which way is up. First deer, then bear and whats next. Tink i wish you had better luck, my gun season was terrible as it has been for so many years i can't remember. Lets go hunt Texas somewhere. At least we will see some deer.
  4. I have heard nothing but disappointment on another wisconsin gun season. Guys just aren't seeing the numbers of deer they should be if there are suppose to be 1.6 million or what ever the DNR put out for there number. There were no weather factors to favor in this year but im sure the DNR will have one. Like there was to much of the states corn crop still standing or something. What is really sad is that when you stop into registration station alot of what you see being registered is yearling deer. Especially in the earn a buck units. The mature deer have become wise to what is going on in these units and are getting harder to hunt much less find. I think they need to drop the earn a buck for a year statewide and see what happens. Maybe do a every two year thing. Oh i forgot they want us to shoot every stinkin deer in this state. Its hard to shoot deer that already aint there.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
  5. Congrats. That is a dandy buck. Must have been neat with the snow on the ground already. I'm in SE Wisconsin. No snow on ground yet. Just flurries. Way to go. Nice pics as well.:):):)
  6. Glad u found him. That is a heck of a nice deer. Nice pics also. Congrats.
  7. Looks like a big un to me. We'll just wait now for the pics of the buck when you get him. Good luck on your quest for him.
  8. Congratulations on what sounds like a very memorable season for you. That is a heck of a nice deer anywhere. Being your first with the smoke pole is even way better as it sounds like that is a big deer for the area that you hunt. Is he going to go on your wall? Good luck to you the rest of the season and again congrats on a great looking deer.:):):):):):)
  9. If its an area where you have alot of does travel through i would leave it there. Maybe not hunt it for a couple of days. You know though it is getting to be that time of year where the bucks only have one thing on there mind. From my experiences bucks start to let their guard down this time of year and when there after a doe will come upwind or downwind they just want to find that doe. Don't know where u guys down there are rut wise. Here in Wisconsin things have started to heat up pretty good. If that dang wind would slow down a little though. Good luck on your quest for the big one.
  10. i would try a 2 blade rage. If you are putting your shots in the lungs a 2 blade rage will tear up that deer inside. Even if it doesn't go all the way through the deer shouldn't go more than 75 yds tops. These broadheads do the job and are a little more forgiving if the shot is not quite where you wanted it. Just my opinion. Most guys i have talked with that used the 3 blade have went to the 2 blade.
  11. Shot one real close to that size here in Wisconsin last year. He should go mid to upper 150 i would think. Heck of a nice buck. Sounds like you will remember this hunt for a long time. Congrats. Post what he ends up scoring when you find out.
  12. A trophy in anybodys book, but i would say 155. Heck of a buck. Congrats:)
