A friend of mine swears by the black cloud ammunition on geese and ducks as well. We are probobly gunna give it a shot this season I would imagine, also as far as the chokes go, the group I hunt with shoots both patternmaster and kicks high flyer. From the looks of the dead ducks every season, I dont think you can go wrong with either one of them..

Any buck/doe killed in front of my dogs.. I own three of the best looking hounds Ive ever layed eyes on and they know how do their job.. As long as they do what they do best, Im completley happy, whether I killed a deer or not.. PS:however if I had to pick a "dream buck" it would have to be a huge nasty looking non-typical, with a ton of mass and junk coming off everywhere.. IDK just something neat about them big non-typicals I think..

Our bowseason last the whole month of september just about and you cant bowhunt during ML season here so after bowseason goes out I pick up the smokepole. I do pick up the bow on occasion during rifle season but most of the time during gun season I am working on my first passion, hunting with dogs and it is not only illegal but unethical to attempt a bowhunt with dogs.. So usually after the bowseason goes out I will be either toting my cva or one of my remingtons..

Mckenzie Shotblocker4me.. Right now its the mckenzie shotblocker but mine is the travelpro model (only one my pro shop had in stock) and Im not real impressed with it to be honest. The arrows bury extremely deep after just two weeks of shooting.. On occasion they will go in and be touching the fletchings. Will probobly be the last shotblocker I buy, it does block the shots but not very well.

I agree with this for the most part but also you may wanna check the fields to the southwest and north.. Like was said they may not be on your property but there are bound to be trails going to and from them.. Hope this helps and good hunting.. PS:also I agree with the acorn thing. Deer love acorns and whereever the most acorns are in early season the deer will be there as well..

Good shooting, I have been practicing some but need to do more before September the 12th that is for sure..

I will be in the market for a new bow next year (maybe sooner but not trying to count my chickens before they hatch) and just wanted to get some ideas on what to buy next.. I without a dought will be buying a bow that comes with the lifetime warranty and it will more than likely be a mathews because I have owned and shot mathews bows in the past and never had a problem with them and loved the way they shot.. I currently shoot a used martin that I got used for a good deal. Money got tight and my mathews had to go a couple of years back and ended up with the martin to make a long story short.. However I have always shot solid limb, single cam bows and was looking for a change with my next bow.. Wanted to get a dual cam bow with split limbs just for something different I guess but like I said my biggest thing is the lifetime warrenty. That turned me on to the Mathews Monster. What are your opinions of the monster, Im hoping somebody here has shot it before or maybe even hunted with it. The reviews and specs I read on mathews website really got me excited about this bow and I cant wait to get to the pro shop and check it out for myself.. I just couldnt get over it when I read on one review that they acheived a blistering 362fps with the monster and a lighter arrow.. Just any information you could give on this monster would be helpful. Thanks alot for your info and opinions..

I also shoot a Remington 700 in 30-06. I love it, plenty of knock down for anything in north america and a wide variety of bullets to choose from. I mostly hunt deer and black bears with mine and the occasional coyote will also fall victim to it. However if you dont intend to hunt bear or any big game larger than deer I would probobly suggest the 270 just because it is an awsome deer round and Im sure will do a number on the biggest of hawgs. If I didnt hunt bear in my area I would most likely be shooting a 270 instead of a 30-06. I just prefer the extra knock down of the 180grain pill I shoot from my 30-06. My suggestion is the 270 if you dont intend to hunt anything larger than deer. The 270 is an awsome round as far as that goes and will knock any coyote, bobcat, or fox, in the dirt without a problem. As far as make and model, you cant go wrong with the Remington 700. Great guns, mine is old as the hills and still shooting just as good as if it had just came out of the box if not better due to practice and more practice because it is a comfortable gun to shoot.. Just my suggestion from what I have shot before.. I have owned and used both and am sure you will be completely satisfied with either one of those two calibers.. Good luck with your choice and good hunting..

I am probobly the farthest thing from a scent freak I guess but I do try to cover the basics. I spray down my boots and clothing with scent killer or dead down wind before heading to the stand and I try to smoke as little as possible while in the stand which can be difficult when nothing is happening.. Also I prefer to wear rubber knee boots, dont know if that matters or not but have heard that it does and figure it cant hurt anything (also they get sprayed down in scent killer or dead down wind)..

Gunna have to pass with 7 days in Iowa ahead. Its definitley a big buck in my book but without knowing for sure if he is legal and still having seven days left to hunt Im gunna have to take a pass on this buck..
-
Playing by the landowners rules Im going to have to pass on this deer unfortunatley. The buck is a definite trophy in my book but I wouldnt want to take a chance and loose my hunting priveleges by no means so I guess Im gunna have to pass this deer up..:bummed: PS:by the way Im definitley not the best at field judging deer and my uncertainty would be the reason for letting this deer walk..

dont mean to post a million questions at one time or nothing (posted the crimson talon xt question wallago) but was wondering what arrow everybody shoots.. I have shot GoldTip XT Hunters since I started messing with archery and still stand by them today.. My local pro shop carries them for 89dollars a dozen so they are not quite as hard on the ol wallet as some of the others neither.. J/W.. Also wanted to add a question to this post as well.. Was gunna try blazer vanes with the last bunch I bought but he didnt have any ready so I ended up getting duravanes again.. What are the pros and cons to blazers over duravanes if there are any?
