  1. Heres some trail cam photos from my hunt plot of clover and winter rye. Even though its just getting established seems to draw the deer in real well. I just got the Cuddeback Wednesday and apulled the card yesterday.
  2. Well checked it today and it hasnt been a full 2 weeks yet and the winter rye is about 4-5 inches tall already. The Clover is about a inch tall and really green im hoping it will be going this well and stay nice. Will get a few photos of it tomorrow , im thinking about putting a camera up and see whats out there.
  3. I bought a bag of Rack up Minerals at my local ag store it was onsale for 6.99. Has anyone ever used this and had good results with deer using the minerals? Says to make a 4ft clear area of dirt and pour on ground and add water to make it instant action. Ive got some Trace Mineral Blocks out in the woods and they dont really get hit as far as i can tell. On another note i placed some sweet deer feed out last year and the deer seemed to still be hitting the ground after a year later where it has been eaten all up. Dan
  4. No water yet i have sprayed a few Demos this year i did a Standox water demo it was easy to spray just color looked weird. Most recently I did a Transtar NOMix Demo and sprays like any solvent based just lower VOC's. They have no clue what they want to do i dont care as long as its not crap to paint.
  5. I work in Ellington Kar Kare Collision, been there for about 6 years painting there for 2 now. Were real slow i got to painting my new bed for my Ram and did a Rhino in it this past thursday. What shop you work at and you guys staying busy? Also what paint line you use were a sikkens shop. Dan
  6. Hello all, I'm a trained Rhino Tech at the autobody Shop i work for i mainly just do collision work now and full time painter. I figured id post some facts about the lining if anyone was interested in getting one. Rhino is a 2 part catalyzed poly-urethane product. In low humidity it dries in 15 seconds. About the Humidity if you get one done ask the dealer if they control the spray enviroment you would not belive how crappy and short lived a liner can be if sprayed in 50%plus humidity. Rhino attracts moisture as its applied when in its liquid form ( like a sponge sitting on top of water). The more moisture the less durable the liner it becomes real porus and thats when it fails and chips cracks. Lifetime warranty on liner ( the actual company doesnt warranty it the shop pays outta pocket for it) There are different colored pigments to change the color but they never last. The sun will bleach the color in a open bed unless covered , only black last long and will dull out over time. It can be applied to any surface except plastic . It really is tuff stuff and great to use . For the people out there who have had problems with the Rhino Brand product I can guarantee it was because of the shop who sprays it. A peeling liner is caused from a unsanded surface and many places go the cheapo rought to cut corners which in the end makes the consumer mad. When we had to repair a liner you need a air chisel to take the liner off. The chipping and cracking is usually due to a high humid time of spray. Any questions or anything paint/body related feel free to ask me! Dan
  7. Hopefully somebody with more experience than me will chime in for you/us. I know on a bag of Plotspike brand Fertilizer for plots i got at Tractor Supply is says to do it before you plant and after that at 8 or 9 week intervals. Not sure how good that helps i would say wait for someone who is either a farmer or food plot expert. Dan
  8. Ive got a new stand Hang On in the shed waiting to be put up, just need the steps to hang it. Need to move my ladder stand for gun season to a different edge on the field and trim a few shooting lanes but other than that i will be ready for Sept. 15th! Dan
  9. Its gets all the sun it can as long as theres no overcast it is filtered light during the early season cause the hickory and maples that cover it. Theres acorns all over the place to so its quite diverse for forage. The Winter Rye is in time and does great this far north, many farmers here use winter rye as there cover crop. Well im still waiting on rain they keep screwing up the forecast. Dan
  10. Well i planted my hunt plot Sunday as its supposed to rain this week. I planted Whitetail Clover and Winter Rye. Im hoping it will do real well and be very full and last a while. I will try to post pics of the plot and update this as it progresses! Dan
  11. Anybody have any real good pickled okra recipes we have a nice row of baby okra's and i love me some pickled okra haha. Its actually the best growing plant in my garden for being up in Connecticut. We have a Ball Recipe book that has just a basic recipe pickled okra recipe but i want to find different variations. Thank you Dan
  12. I have a CVA Kodiak and really need to buy a decent scope probably one with the ballistic reticle. I was looking at the bushnells that are out the DOA XLT Trophy's. Are those a good basic scope im not looking to empty the wallet or anything but want it to last. Any help and reviews from fellow users would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  13. Bought 10lbs of winter rye today at the local ag store. One question is how thick should i broadcast the seeds for rye and clover . Should i just do 1 pass or 2 at walking pace?
  14. Did a PH test today on my plot soil and its a 6.0 i put a generic Plotspike Fertilizer on it . Im hoping to plant this coming weekend still need to find winter rye.
  15. Ok thanks everyone thats what i want to hear, Now if i were to do the winter rye mix how much like a ratio of rye to clover should i do. I also forgot to mention its a filtered sunlinght area. I greatly appreciate everybody's input , one other thing i use one of those Scotts hand seed spreader at what number or amount of seed should i disperse? Thank you Dan
