So what happens if you don't have a drivers license, are there other forms of ID that have your birthdate on them? If they are using the drivers license for other things then what do you do if you don't have one? Rodney

We got the messages saying they were moving to channel 396 long before they moved. You should also get the sportsmens channel on 395 and the pursuit channel on channel 240. Rodney

The words lightest, most compfortable and cheap don't mix. The cheaper stands are almost always heavier, some are somewhat compfortable but not as compfortable at the higher priced ones. In my opinion, and this is just my opinion based on my experience, a Summit climbing stand is hard to beat. They offer a few different models to choose from to fit your needs, weight is not to bad for a two piece stand, price is not cheap but its not the most expensive either. I'm sure others will give you their opinions on other stands but this was just mine. Good luck with your choice Rodney

I personally don't pay much attention to the equipment the people on hunting shows use. I have heard to many people on those shows say that brand X bow, broadhead, treestand, etc. is the best and only brand they will use. The following season they have changed brands and say that that brand is the best. I believe they use whatever sponser pays them the most, business is business and those shows need sponsers to help pay the bills. I still enjoy watching hunting shows, but don't really care what equipment they use. Rodney

I think scents are like game calls, I have deer bust their butt to come into grunts, rattling, etc at times and then sometimes they don't pay any attention to any calling I may be doing. Same has happend with scents, I've made scent trails that deer have followed right where I wanted them to go and other times they have walked right by a scent trail without even stopping to sniff. I think it all depends on the mood of the deer at that moment. To answer your question about the scent bombs, I don't like to use it all at once, the new models allow you to let out individual bursts instead of all at once. In my opinion when you let out all the scent from the bomb at once it puts to much scent into an area at one time. I know that some people say you have to put out enough scent for the deer to smell, but I think there is a fine line between enough and too much. I would rather error on not putting out enough as opposed to putting out to much which could result in a deer not coming in. Just my thoughts Rodney

I've had corn feeders in the woods for several years along with a trail camera monitoring them, I think the deer learn what that noise is but in my experience they still come in at random times not just after the feeder has went off. I will say that the turkeys in our area come in within 10 minutes after the feeder goes off on a constant basis. Rodney

Today was the day for the younger hunters to go after deer in Maryland, I took out a young friend who is 12, I took him to hunters safety class earlier this year and he passed a got a free license for this year. He has an older brother who is 16 that wanted to go out as well, since he is 16 this was the last youth hunt he could go on. He went out with my friend who is frequent poster on this site(Bearclaw) their team connected with a nice fat 4pt this morning. Later in the morning my young friend got a shot at a nice 8pt, unfortunately he got a little buck fever and missed the shot. We went out in the evening but didn't see any more deer, he said he had fun and asked if he could go out with me during the regular firearms season, I think we can add him to the hunting ranks because he seems to really like hunting and being out in the woods. I told him he could go with me whenever he wanted during rifle and muzzleloader season. I'm glad to see that he has an interest in something other than video games and the internet. It was a great day in the woods in western maryland!

I agree with the fact that something has to be planted to help with erosion, I don't understand why they would plant clover in this spot and use some other type of grasses in the rest of the median strips along that highway? I haven't seen any roadkills in that area yet, hopefully the deer will never know its there.

I travel from western maryland to erie pa every week for work, I pick up interstate 79 north in morgantown wv and take it to erie. The last couple of times I have noticed something that doesn't make much sense to me. Near milemarker 145, which is close to meadville pa, penndot or someone has planted clover in the median strip between the north & southbound lanes. A few weeks ago I noticed purple flowers, at first I thought it was crown vetch or fetch which is what they plant alot of in maryland along the highways, I slowed down last week to get a better look and noticed some white colored flowers closer to the ground. Today I couldn't take it anymore and stopped to get a real good look and sure enough it is clover! Who in there right mind would plant clover in the median strip where the deer would have to cross the highway to get to it!! Anyone traveling that way take a look and see for yourself, it is in the median strip just before you get to milemarker 145, its a pretty good patch of it. Rodney

Thanks guys this is the only pic I have of this deer, I have to agree about the face looking older and the straight belly of a younger deer, thats why I was asking about the age. Hopefully in the coming days I can get a better pic of him, starting to get alot of different bucks showing up. This camera is under an apple tree in a small orchard that I hunt, in the last week I've gotten numerous buck pics from this location, to bad they are all in the middle of the night. Rodney

What are your thoughts on age?

Looks like another early muzzleloader season has come and gone with no buck. Our season came in on Thursday and went out today, bucks only. I went out Thursday and saw 2 deer all day, went to work on Friday, went out today and saw 5 doe and a bobcat this morning, pretty cool seeing the bobcat, went out this evening and saw 9 doe and a red fox. I think the highlight of this season was the bobcat, first one I've seen in the woods, I have a couple of trail cam pics of one, it walked right under the stand this morning, looked up and froze for about 5 minutes trying to figure out what I was then it snuck off. Back to bowhunting until rifle season comes in. Rodney

I haven't been seeing much deer activity in the woods lately but I have to say that the bucks are getting hammered on the highways in the last week. I drive from the western end of maryland to erie pa once a week for work, I take 79 from morgantown wv to erie. I would say that 75-80% of the deer that are identifiable have been bucks, they started showing up about a week and half ago. Our early muzzleloader season came in today, I hunted from daylight to 1pm and then from 3pm to dark and never saw a deer. Hopefully things will pick up in the woods like they have along the highway.
