  1. I have found 7...... 3 were 1 1/2 year old bucks...... one was a 6 1/2 year old that I had seen several times ...... and three does..... that is about average for me though.... our neighbors are bad shots to say the least. they shoot them then the deer run to our land which has very light hunting pressure to die.
  2. bought guitar hero II from Toddyboman great price everything works good communication A+++ guy thanks
  3. looks like he has been around awhile you have seveal big 3 point sides from what i can see
  4. I went a couple of times last week and saw a TON of deer.. all around food sources.... we had a small patch of beans the farm could not get so they are hammering that. I am seeing a lot of does yarding up and a few bucks. mostly 1 1/2's but a feww 2 1/2's. i saw one really nice buck but it was at very first light
  5. very cool mount!!! I think the wife would kill me if I brought that home.... she thinks the heads tak up enough room as it is!!!!!
  6. I agree whith the above.... one does not have to go out and buy top of the line gear to start bow hunting. my first bow was $125 about 9 years ago. it was a used Darton. I practiced, became a decent shot, and killed a deer the first year out. since then I have been bitten by the bug and bought top of the line gear. There are a lot of great used bows and accessories people can buy on e-bay. I am going to set up a buddy of mine who has never bow hunting and has a budget of about $300. I think this should be a fairly easy task to get an older quality set up.
  7. very cool story..... i love the pic with the deer in the background and her not being able to see it. classic!! I can't wait til I can pass this sport on to my own little ones.
  8. ok I will be the black sheep..... I had one and was not impressed.... I thought it was too loud and never could get it tuned right. Maybe it is just me but I took it to a dealer who messed with it too and just could not get it right. if it helps I had it on an old hoyt Havoctec. On the flip side my best friend has one on his Hoyt and seems to have gotten it set up right. He still thinks it is a little noisey I think, but it is working ok. I shoot a trophy Taker Shakey Hunter and Love it.. it is a lot more inexpensive and quiet. jmo
  9. Well I got good and bad news.... i have to work the whole second season and my uncle called me this morning and said the MONSTER I have been watching walked 30 yards in front of my stand this morning...... Figures... I have hunted hard all year and he said it was about 30 yards.... bummer for me.
  10. I donated my first deer and so did my dad. They ask for a small donation when dropping the deer off, but it is small and worth it. Good post!!!
  11. So you are telling me you would shoot it or you wouldn't.... you say no thanks at first then say you have to shoot the one that is still alive???? if you would not shoot the one that was still alive and near death anyway then shame on you.... As a sportsman I would think you would want to put the one out of its misery. it was going to die anyway JMO
  12. I agree it is bitter because the 2 deer were both great bucks that I had been watching, but man was it sweet. Something that I am sure I will never come across again. As for fair chase.... they were not in a pen so It is just natures way I guess. we know it is just blind luck to come across them while 1 is still alive, but I would def. kill the one that was still alive. plus I believe he was going to be near death anyway.
  13. I am that way too.... sorry for getting too defensive
  14. Sorry I did not take the pic. while DNR was tagging it. This good enough for you Hoosier
  15. must be a different set of deer.... this set was just harvested sat. and if you look at the big 10 point you can se all the mud in his mouth from the other buck dragging him. I have a picture of the dnr tag if you are that interested.
  16. I know the one buck has a salvage tag on it and it is unlawful to sell, and I would never want to sell, but how much do you think this is worth. The taxidermist did not want to keep the racks because he did not want to be held responsible for them
  17. Good afternoon long time looker first time poster. Thought this was worth trying to figure ou the picture thing. Saturday of IL first shotgun season my dad hits the deer hunting lotto. Walking to his stand at first light he hears a deer get up and try to run away. Closer examine reveals a set of very nice locked bucks. One already dead from a broken neck, one still alive. My dad moves into position and finishes the deal. 1 shot 307 4/8 inches of antler dead on the ground. The buck that was still alive is a very nice 12 point. he was a 6 by 4 with two cool non-typical points coming off the inside of the rack and the bigger buck was a main frame 8 with 2 stickers off the back of the brows making him a 10. he scored 162 5/8 as a ten point and netted 155 as a typical 8. he was extremely symetrical. I had seen both deer during the archery season and would have been happy to take eiether. I called local DNR and obtained a salvage tag for the buck that was already dead. It is going to make a sweet mount.
  18. it is a horrible thing for everyone envolved. I realized it was an accident, but he should be prosecuted! he has to know what is beyond his target and shooting a rifle he knows that bullet is going to carry a long distance. from the look of the pic. it looks like the stand is fairly level with the ground the trooper is standing on.
  19. very nice buck!!! the neck on that thing looks huge
  20. QUIT HUNTING!!! that is jibberish it happens to the best of us. even the pros lose deer every now and then. get back out there and get a bigger one
  21. So you have to fill us in!!!
