  1. Good question, I was planning to ask that very question after scanning a score sheet just to see how RT forum members calculate it. I asked P&Y last year. They responded by stating that according to them the final net score is the only score they are concerned with. That tells me a hunter is on his/her own as far as calculating the gross score. I do what smackdown does. I add up the total number of inches (normal and abnormal) for a total number of inches. That to me is the gross score. Afterall, gross means total before deductions. An example: My 07 season buck: Final net score after deductions came to 162&2/8 inches Total abnormal points: 1&3/8 inches Total for normal points (listed as subtotal on P&Y score sheet) = 169 & 3/8 inches I indicate my Gross score = 171&2/8 inches (NOT 169 & 3/8). >Frank Hey smackdown, you're right he doesn't look like a 140-150 class deer. I was kinda thinking he looked like a (doe with glued on antlers) class deer. LOL Seriously though, he's a awesome looking buck!
  2. Watch out for bone fragments Orlan. I hear those magnum butcher cleavers really pack a punch.

    Rough Day

Hang in there, as Chris said: "We're all pulling for ya".
  4. I kept a journal this year and kept track of moon phase. Haven't analysed the data yet, but it seems to me that the brighter the sky the night before the less daytime activity. Doubt it has as significant an impact as wind, temperature, and rain/snow.
  5. Sounds like you have a few leads. Sorry but I don't have any info on good deals for service people. I would like to say thanks for your service!

    Jim (JJL)

Didn't you all know Jim did the same thing in IL some years ago! That's the REAL reason he moved to Colorado.
  7. A lot of high tech stuff here I know nothing about. Some basic advice: Put the tongue back in the animals mouth and get a flexible camera tripod for photos when you're alone and using the self timer.
  8. I've never been. One day I gotta try it.
  9. Hope he makes it through the winter. Nice find there.

Glad to hear that Orlan. I need to start eating better myself. Keep up the heart healthy lifestyle!

    Bummed...but ok

You'll make it, just hang in there. Too bad I don't have you in my class this semester. A couple nursing students wanted to see my deer pictures so when I showed them my 170 inch archery buck they said: is that good?

    I survived

Glad the surgery went well. Now if that knife was truly hammerforged we'll be getting a good report. Prayers sent Ross. >Frank
  13. After extensive study and e-mails to P&Y last month I'd say with 99% certainty that the Indiana P&Y record is safe. Fair chase???? A tough call for me, but I'd say no. I doubt that first shot (in the leg) would have resulted in a harvest. Since the second shot was at a deer that could not escape or run I don't see it as fair chase. If a deer decides to run into a snow drift or deep water or mud and can't get away P&Y would not consider it fair chase.

Hope ya had Tim sign it for you Kyle. It won't be long now till Tim reaches super star status and the value of that bow doubles! Tim, you're going have to get another monster next year for it to triple. Keep your fingers crossed Kyle.

Need a few more to get shooter head gear.
  16. Looks like a great time! Congratulations.
  17. Nice buck, and shot! Congratulations
  18. I know a lot of people who would if the facility allowed it. A lot of hospitals (most I would say) require specific colors for nurses, techs, respiratory, etc... It makes it easier for patients to identify who is caring for them. The nurse managers would have to approve it, and unfortunately I doubt many would think of cammo as a "professional" color. Of course I would, but then I'm not a manager either. There are certain days like halloween when they would be very popular. I'd buy a set.
  19. Inside spread was just over 20 inches. He has the greatest spread of any deer I've harvested to date.
  20. Glad things turned out without you getting injured. I saw a deer get hit by a car and he had that sad look you refer to. I too wanted to do something to help. I meet the criteria for the OTPG, I also think I'd qualify for the DFC. I'll get my story up soon. Now Buckee I must have missed your story. if you could provide the link I'd sure like to read it.
  21. Only 3 guesses! I know deer season is over, but there has got to be a few more of my RT brothers/sisters out there? Initially I was thinking 4&1/2 like William said, but the teeth sure look like 3&1/2 to me as well.
