  1. This was an older doe, but not real fat.
  2. Perhaps I should clarify... NAW stated the reason Illinois ranks high in P&Y / B&C deer is BECASE of the short firearm season and quality deer management in the private sector. Illinois is last in (government controlled) deer managaement. It's private land owners that are making up for Illinois Department of Natural Resources slack. I don't know enough about what other states are doing so I have no reference to compare Illinois to. I think deer management (by state governments) would make for an interesting discussion.
  3. Looks like you all are having a blast making the videos. Looks Great!
  4. You're lucky hunting season is over now. Congratulations.

    Warning to Hunters

    And if he does....
  6. I don't know ya moon, but the FFA graphic looks great. Thanks for taking the time to do this for our team.
  7. Well I went out and bought this months issue of North American Whitetail, but Randyman beat me to the punch. I did want to add that Saskatchewan is listed #5 on the all time B&C list with 570 entries. Another very interesting finding was that only 112 P&Y entries are listed for Saskatchewan, whereas every U.S. state listed has a lot more P&Y entries than B&C. For example: Wisconsin has over 6 thousand P&Y entries and 853 B&C entries. This tells me that P&Y deer in Sasketchewan are not being entered into the books. This is most likely true for other states and Provinces as mentioned by forum members. A final note I'll mention is that although Illinois is ranked 1st with the most B&C entries and 2nd in P&Y entries it is ranked dead last in deer management. NAW states this is in due to short firearm seasons and quality deer management in the private sector.
  8. Like I said earlier, I sure hope those that disagree with me are right and I'm wrong. Time will tell.

    What a haircut

Agreed. I never have that kind of free time. Ok, now on to the next thread.
  12. WOW! That crown molding looks GREAT! The deer aint too shabby either. Congratulations!
  13. I'd say this winter has not been the coldest, but the latest I've seen here in Illinois. Normally I consider winter Mid-November - Mid-February. This year it has been more like Mid-December - Mid March. I hope it ends by Mid-March anyway. Ten inches of snow recorded today. I'm not an Al Gore fan, but I strongly believe global warming is real and will create serious problems in the not so distant future. For anyone who disagrees, I sure hope you're right and I'm wrong.
  14. I believe all life is to be respected. Killing or harming animals just for a laugh or to impress friends is wrong. As far as the punishment goes, well look at the repurcussions poachers face. I think it should be comparable. If he was suffering from a disorder then that should be taken into account.

    Weird weather

We were posting the same thing minutes apart.
  16. I was driving to work and heard it on the radio. I heard the first report about the first plane hitting the tower in NY and thought it was a small plane (1-2 people). I remember thinking... boy that's too bad. Later in my office I heard about the whole story and was devistated. I remember wanting to check on my kids and make sure they were safe.

    Honest opinion?

No bubble busting here. I asked for it straight and I appreciate yours as well as everyones comments. I must add that the short shoulder was not the fault of the taxidermist. That was my fault. I came up a little short caping it. I needed kicked for that, and this past Christmas when the family came over well.... lets just say they got their legs ready for soccer this spring. The taxidermist mentioned to me that the cost of supplies had really went up. I wasn't sure if this was a line, but it appears he was truthful.

    Freaky Weather

Sunday afternoon I took my son to the park to fish and play. It was sunny and 74 degrees. I was loving life in jeans and a t-shirt. Yesterday (Monday) it drops down to the 20's and starts to sleet and snow. Today (Tuesday) schools are cancelled and 10 inches of snow is expected. Is this a result of global warming, the end times, or what?
  19. Check again Turtle, It looks like Oklahoma (OK) to me. It does seem that Oklahoma and Wisconsin are doing better than Missouri, Minnesota, and Ohio.
  20. I'm still laughing. I couldn't find any information about "states" in Canada? I'd love to see same stats on Canada if anyone has any.
  21. Check out this story! http://www.wgem.com/News/index.php?ID=7268
  22. This will be my first contest. I'll be hunting Easterns in Southern Illinois. I only have one tag for one season (5-days) this year. Hopefully I can make it count. Full Fan Assassins sounds good. >Frank
  23. Number one problem I had with the only outfitter I have used was communication. I would ask questions and get vague answers. The outfitter sat at the lodge all day while the guides did all the work. Therefore many questions could really only be answered by the guides. I was in Canada and the guides did not speak English wery well. In addition I could never find the guides and when I did they were always in a hurry and didn't take the time to make sure my questions were answered. It made for a lousy experience overall.
  24. I knew this one was comming. I wasn't sure which state would post it first. I looked at the states from the website I posted and OK wasn't on it. OK might be in the more recent stats? I believe North American Whitetail magazine has current stats in this months issue. It might be a different magazine (I saw the article while browsing at the grocery store). I'll pick up a copy and post the most current results later this week.
  25. Looks like you had a good season. Some of the hunters in the pictures don't look too happy though. Perhaps your deer was bigger than theirs.
