It's rare to get a mount picture that does it justice. Generally if it looks good in a picture it looks great in person.

bow suggestions I recommend getting a used bow. Since it's your first bow perhaps 2010 or 2011. Everyone has their favorite company, but from my research Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, and PSE have been leading the field in the past few years. Outdoor life has a bow review each year and suggest a great buy as well as their editors choice. It's worth Googling. Make sure your pro shop measures your draw length right - getting the right fit is essential. Good luck!

In addition to above: Find a location to hunt that has the game you are after. Scout the area out before the season starts and try to determine travel patterns for that time of year.

Yea, I priced it out before making an offer. The new price (after tax) would run close to $1400.00. The guy at the pawn shop new it too. So any guess on what they agreed to? I'm thinking I pretty much stole it.

What do you think this set up is worth? Picked her up today at a local pawn shop. Left handed 2011 z7 Magnum at 60-70 pounds, 29 inch draw (fits me great). Used one season - no deer killed yet - still a virgin. Came with Plano case, Trophy Ridge Alpha V5 Sight, QAD Ultra-Rest HD, NAP stabilizer - Apache, Alpine Quiver mount, wrist strap, and peep.

What would you do? We get 2 bucks in IL. If IL had a 1 buck limit and it was opening day of our near 4 month season- well I wouldn't be able to answer until the time came.

I have the conquest HD 10x42 binos and think a lot of them. I also have Bushnell trophy 10x42. The conquest binos are significantly better.

Thanks everyone, almost didn't go out - had only seen one doe in the last 5 hunts, temps at the 20 degree mark, and with my classes starting Monday I almost just stayed in the office to get caught up. I made the right decision! You never know! It's what I love about hunting! One evening can change an entire season! It's like a beautiful sunrise. If it was beautiful all the time it wouldn't be beautiful. Every once in a while the stars line up just right, the wind blows your scent the right direction, and your arrow / bolt misses the deflecting twigs. This was one such night and I can't thank God enough for giving this passion that contributes to the (life is worth living) column.
