  1. A while back I got a message from Adjam5 about his Sportsman's Group's upcoming Friends of the NRA Banquet. It seems that they were looking around for a local knifemaker to make a knife for the auction out of some of the cable used in the construction of the 9/11 Museum and Memorial which Anthony had managed to get ahold of. Not finding anyone local the leader of the group contacted Dave Petzal of Gun Nuts and Field and Stream Magazine and Mr. Petzal gave him my name. Now I must admit that when Anthony related this to me I was taken aback because I have never met Mr. Petzal. I told Anthony I would be honored to make a knife for this endeavor. Today I got her finished. the blade and bolsters are Cable Damascus forged fromthe cable that Anthony sent me which was used in the construction of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The Handle scales are Arizona Desert Ironwood Burl and the liners are Titanium. I used a piece of the very center core of the cable for the spine spacer for this Lady. She will be auctioned off at the Hudson Valley Friends of the NRA Banquet on March 30, 2012.
  2. Thanks everyone - I will post a thread on how I spent my birhtday in a moment but wanted to Thank everyone for the birthday wishes first.

    DONE

    Outstanding - GOD is GOOD!
  4. I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 6-year-old Granddaughter and I asked her, "What day is tomorrow?" She said "It's President's Day!" She is a smart kid. So, I asked "What does President's Day mean?" I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln etc. She replied, "President's Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment." You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose.
  5. Watched the show today - not bad. It appears that rather than having a big name host the show, the hunters each week are the host/hostess', at least in the episode I saw today. Will talk more with them tomorrow and see where we can go with this. If it is just product they are looking for I think we can work something out but if they want funds up front then I will take a pass.
  6. I haven't seen it yet either but they have asked me to be a product sponsor for the show. So I was hoping someone on here had seen it to give me either a thumbs up or down on the show. I know that there are good shows and bad shows out there. I have my machine set to tape it tomorrow so I can see it and help me to decide.
  7. The one with Mike Cooley - anyone watch this show on the Sportsman's Channel? Thoughts? Good, bad, whatever.
  8. Thanks everyone - Dan and Lynn have either of you tried the Blackhorn 209 in your Optimas? I have been using it in my Kodiak Magnum and it loves it, am hoping if I go with the Optima that the same will be true. I like the TCs but the sticker on the Optima might be the decider for my wife and daughters. I talked with a rep from CVA and he thinks I can get last years model Optima for a pretty good reduction over this years. I'll let you know what I decide.
  9. If this needs to be moved, please do so. Just thought I would get more response in here. Well - with my birthday coming up and my wife and daughters hounding me for what I want. I have decided that with the ever increasing difficulty of finding anything for my 45 cal. Kodiak magnum, it is time to step up to a 50 cal. Muzzleloader. I thought that being able to review them at SHOT would make the decision easier - WRONG! At present I am leaning towards the CVA Optima - would welcome any thoughts and suggestions from others.
  10. Sorry I couldn't join in the fun Friday night. It is good people like you folks that keep me coming back.
  11. Finally got to meet Scott and several others whose names I cannot recall. Way too many toys and not enough green ;-).

    Hamon.co

As of today January 4, 2012, Patrick Freiburghaus and www.Hamon.co are the European representatives for Ross Tyser Custom Knives. Fingers crossed that 2012 will bring many new contacts and sales. GOD is Good!
  13. Jesse sent me one of those great digital photo frames and a 4 gb sd card to load up all of my photos on it. Thank you so much Jesse.
  14. Wishing everyone a very Merry CHRISTmas. I would appreciate any prayers you good folks could send my way. It looks like the Grinch and old Scrooge himself have decided to pay me a visit this year. I got stiffed on a $3,000.00 fully engraved custom set of steak knives right here at CHRISTmas and I will have to disassemble and totally rebuild the knives to be able to sell them, then Monday of this week someone jacked my daughter's car from her place of employment, the police found the car this morning 2 countys over with a blown motor. She still owes almost $8,000.00 on the car and now we have to replace the motor in it. Don't really mean to sit in my pity hat here but I could use some prayers. Things have not been very cheerful around here today. Thank you for allowing me to vent some here.
  15. Thanks everyone - glad to see the bidding taking off. Both knives are doing well. I am really looking forward to the SHOT Show this year. First time I will actually get to enjoy the show without having to work for someone else at a booth.
  16. Glad you like her Jesse - I hope she serves you well. Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year.
  17. there is a sticky with the sign-up list at the top of the "lounge".
  18. Nice one Frank - oughta "shoot" right to the top of the charts witha "bullet". Great way to start my day - Thanks.
  19. Will definitely be watching for this one, congrats Randy. Are you going to be at SHOT?
  20. Are we doing this again this year? If so, I am in. Just need to know so I have something made. Kyle typically does this. If he wants he can take it over but ill get it started. Consider this the official signup thread. Signup will take place through the end of November actual date TBD after I read previous years threads. - Jeramie
  21. Made some operating adjustment this morning. Shortened the travel on the ram and made a longer "T" handle for the cutoff on the ram which enabled me to have a quicker response on the process. All told it increased the functionality 3 fold of the press. Thanks everyone for your input - it looks like the compressor I have will work just fine.
  22. Thanks everyone - it sounds like I need a larger capacity air compressor with a higher hp. I don't have 220 out to the shop - what about a gas powered air compressor, would one of these have a faster cycle rate over an electric one? Leo - I will take a look at shortening the stroke for the press to alleviate cycle time between squeezes.
