Thanks, I am looking for a no nonsense plain jane beater with acceptable accuracy so it sounds like just what I am looking for and the price can't be beat.

I have a friend who has a Ruger American Predator in .223 that he is looking to rehome. I have been a Ruger fan for many years but know next to nothing about this particular model. Anyone have any practical knowledge on this one? I have seen many mixed reviews on line. Many Thanks in advance.

Busy working on CHRISTmas orders - this one is a drop-point Hunter in AEB-L stainless with a stone washed finish. Desert Ironwood handles with 416 Stainless Corby rivets and a Mosaic pin made by my friend Alexey Balatsky - featuring a Bear with a Salmon in his mouth. Bear is stainless but the Salmon is copper. Overall length of knife is 8.75 inches with a 4 inch blade. Handle is not as dark as in the first two pictures has a lot of gold figure as shown in the third picture.

Welcome back - I have been gone for a while myself, am enjoying being back.

I know this is early but I am slammed this year with CHRISTmas orders and want to be sure and make room on the calendar for this if it is happening. I am in if this is a go.

Working on CHRISTmas orders starting this weekend. Going to be close, need to get some stand time in too if possible. Freezer is getting a bit empty.

Add some extra sharp cheddar cheese next time - dang that is some good eating.

Hunted with my old Browning 425 over and under. Texas has a bad situation with those Eurasion Doves (Ringneck doves) moving in and displacing the Mourning and White Wings, open season year round on the Eurasions and no bag limit. The Rattlesnake situation scares the heck out of me. I am better at listening than I am at looking especially when I am concentrating on finding a downed bird.

Am back home from my annual trip to west Texas to try and reduce the Dove population. Trip was a huge success, though very WET and MUDDY. 85 hunters put 3,687 Dove in the freezer over the course of 4 days - 328 of which were mine. 18 rattlesnakes were killed, largest was 8 feet in length with 14 buttons, smallest was 5 feet with 9 buttons. All but two of these snakes DID NOT rattle! Talked with a Texas Department of Wildlife Rep and they said the snakes have all but stopped rattling because they have learned that the wild hogs hear the rattle and come eat them. If this is true then that is SCARY indeed.

Dang, I missed that. Must be getting old.

Where in west Texas? Still a month away from Quail season but I will be out in the Abilene area doing my best to reduce the Dove population.

Hunkering down waiting on Florence to move on with her bad self. We are as best prepared as we can be. Generator is all gassed up with spare gas cans standing by, plenty of water and staples put by.

Boots and belts, Congrats!

Worked on getting the grass cut before we hopefully get some rain later this weekend, then took the CVA and my new Remington 1858 to the range to decompress a bit. Back on the grass tomorrow and finish up the weekend at God's house.

Safe Hunting - Good Harvest

What little research I have done so far refers to this type of blade as a "Misericorde" or Mercy blade - used to finish off wounded enemy. Like a stiletto in shape but used to stab instead of cut. May get brave enough to try making one but dang those grinds are tight, really shows the skill of the Cutlers back then when we cannot even come close to replicating what they made even with all the equipment available to us today. This blade is only 8 inches long and only one half inch wide at the guard, the grinds/bevels on all four sides are tight and laser straight and equal in depth. This would leave a wound channel with a "+" shaped cross section that would be impossible to heal properly.

Took a trip to Greensboro, NC to visit relatives for a couple days. while there the wife and I went to Guilford Courthouse National Military Park - sight of one of the decisive battles of the Revolutionary War. The Guilford Militia just so happened to be encamped and a few of them put on a demonstrations of the firing of their weapons for us in attendance. One of the cousins we were visiting told us to be sure and find Chet's gate while we were there. One of the gates to the Park was dedicated in memory of Charles Burchette Allen my wife's youngest cousin who was killed February 4th 1975 while serving in the Navy. While there we stopped in to the Visitor's Center and of course I had to look at the sharp pointy things. This one intrigued me tremendously. Cabinet card said it was either an American or British Officer's Dagger. Does not look like any dagger I have ever seen, blade is only 8 inches long and only .5 inch wide at the guard. It is also 4 sided. I would call this a Stiletto rather than a Dagger.

Cool footage - for sure that second brute is spoiling for a fight. Be safe out there and keep your head on a swivel. Safe Hunting - Good Harvest.

Ogeechee River - you will be down in Gullah land. Be safe my friend and don't go crossing any of the locals. There are some strange things happen down in that part of the state. If you hear banjos - paddle faster. ?

Loved my time in Yellowstone - my only regret is that I did not take my fly fishing gear along. Beautiful pics, makes me want to go back right now. Thank you for sharing.

Glad to hear from you my friend - I see Joe's posts over on Facebook. Where in Georgia are you going? I will be making my annual trek to Texas to try and do damage to the dove population in late September. Still making knives as fast as I am able.

I know most are not on Facebook but I also know that quite a few are and I would really like to connect with those of you that I have not already done so. If you wouldn't mind giving me your Facebook contact info I would welcome the chance to send you a friend request. I admit that I am on there more than I am here because I have a business page set up there and post quite frequently there about new projects and such.

Cutting the grass before the next round of rain moves in tomorrow. Buttoning up a few more pieces in the shop before heading to Alabama next week for our twin grandbabies first birthday.

Thank you - that is exactly what he appears to be.

Been enjoying some new visitors to my garden and bird feeders lately. This guy showed up today and I cannot find any info on what type of bird he may be. Haven't seen one with "Horns" like his.
