  1. The "ElkHuntress". This is the SHOT Show Knife for 2015. 1084 and 15n20 Damascus - 8 inch blade 14.5 inches overall length. Guard is hand textured Bronze (not Brass). Ferrule is 1084 and 15n20 Damascus, handle is Sambar Stag. The butt Cap is again hand textured Bronze with an applied hand carved solid pewter Bugling Bull Elk. I believe this is one of the nicest Bowies I have made. I am currently working on making a stand out of an Axis Fork and everything will be enclosed in a custom glass Case. You will be able to follow the auction once it goes live on Gunbroker.com under "Hunting Heritage Auctions".

    Dang!

You are correct Joe - My son-in-law and his little brother helping me process the doe mentioned above. Sorry for the crappy picture - taken with my phone.

    Dang!

I wish South Carolina had a fall Turkey Season! I see them everywhere I go - just had 4 in my front yard for crying out loud! Of course when the spring season rolls around I won't be able to find them anywhere. What other states don't have a fall Turkey season. On a happier note did manage to put a doe in the freezer last night.
  4. I always sight in before the season starts and if I travel - then I sight in when I get there.
  5. Ready whenever you are.
  6. Sorry, I haven't been around in like forever. I have been asked to make the SHOT Show Knife again - this makes number 5 for me. For whatever reason my orders have picked up A LOT over the past few months. I now have 5 students who are really doing well and at least 2 of those I feel will really stick with it. I was wondering if anyone had given any thought to the Christmas Exchange? I know it is still October but I really get slammed this time of year, if it is on count me in.
  7. Having never owned a good quality field scope before - I have a question for those of you who do. The Nikon Prostaff 5 I now have has a removable eyepiece, should I remove the eyepiece for storing or is it safe to leave it on the scope? The 2 others I own have non-removable eyepieces. I have a nice padded aluminum case for transport and storage. Many Thanks in advance.

    Finally Morels

Dang it - now you done gone and made me drool all over my keyboard! I need to get out and see f I can find some, haven't seen any yet this year.
  9. Haven't had a chance to try out the field scope yet but am heading up on the Parkway this weekend and plan to take it along. I am looking for a tripod that will compact to around 8 inches but be plenty sturdy for the scope. Tripod only needs to open to around 6 feet. That new Inline XR scope for my new smokepole is wonderful, went out to the range last weekend with my so-in-law and we both got loads worked up, new smokepole really likes 100 grains of the Blackhorn 209 with 245 grain Powerbelt Aerotip and 120 grains of the Blackhorn 209 with the 270 grain Aerotip. I think I am ready to take on some of those Axis in south Texas in September.
  10. 31 here this morning but supposed to warm up to 62 by this afternoon. I hope my blueberries make it, just set out 6 new bushes and they were doing great, putting on new growth, then this cold snap. Been keeping them covered the past few nights, got my fingers crossed.
  11. Before Bass Pro moved into the area. Since Cabela's opened up in the past few weeks Bass Pro has been making noise about coming to the area. They are making the announcement later today that they will be breaking ground next month. Maybe I can get Tim back down here for their Grand opening and some hogs.
  12. 28 here this morning and the high for the day is expected to only get to 54. I am ready for some consistency to this weather.
  13. Got a care package from my good friend Jon LaCorte over at Nikon yesterday. Got their new Inline XR scope with the BDC 300 Reticle for my new smokepole and their Prostaff 5 Fieldscope. I have ordered a window mount for the Fieldscope but probably need a tripod as well. Any suggestions as to good tripod that will be transportable and plenty stable?
  14. Had a great time with Tim at Cabela's Grand Opening in Greenville, SC today. Best of luck to all those participating in the hunt in Kansas.

    Optima V2

My daughter got me an Optima V2 in stainless with the thumbhole stock for my birthday last month. CVA recommends using White Hots but I have never used them. I have always used Pyrodex pellets or Blackhorn 209 in my Kodiak Magnum. Anyone here have any experience with the White Hots? I understand from speaking with CVA that I would need to change out the breech plug to be able to use the Blackhorn 209 powder.
  16. See you tomorrow my friend.
  17. Could really use some positive thoughts and prayers right now. Many Thanks in advance.
  18. Needs a home - Both knives in 1084 and 15n20 Damascus in a Twist pattern. Nickel Silver bolsters with Ivory handle scales secured with Mosaic pins. Larger knife 7.5 inches overall length with a 3.5 inch blade. Smaller knife 6 inches overall length with a 2.75 inch blade. Many Thanks to Matt Berkhouse for his outstanding vision and work on creating the double sheath. $750.00 plus shipping and insurance.
  19. Have been privileged to meet a few and hope to meet more some day. Ones I have met have been by design and no accident.
  20. I have started a page over at GoFundMe.com - http://www.gofundme.com/78mof4 - it has gotten to the point that my equipment cannot stand up to the load of multiple users. I need to add some equipment to better accommodate the students I now have. Thank You for your thoughts and prayers in this matter.
  21. For everyone in the path of this latest storm. Hope everyone is safe.
