  1. I think it would kill the archery and primative arms season. Oklahoma needs all the hunters and revenue that they bring to the state since they are furloughing their employes.
  2. What caliber? I like my Browning A Bolts, have a 204,243,270WSM, and 300WSM. The 270WSM with 140 gr Accubond has decked every deer I have shot at. Killed an antelope with it at 330 yards last year. I also have a 270 Winchester in a Remington 700 Titanium that is a plesure to carry, but will depend on the WSM.
  3. Warm weather Since a deer has a winter coat on, I think they will be like us and not run around in the heat with heavy clothes on. Look in the shady areas if they are out at all. Seems like a few years ago we always hunted in heavy clothes, not "T' shirts.
  4. Good job, glad the bullets worked for you. I know that is what I will use from now on.
  5. Hit him in the right shoulder, went thru to the opposite shoulder. The hide kept it from exiting, the bullet fell off when the hide was pulled down. I will use them from now on.
  6. Dead Center I changed from pellets and Power Belts to 110 gr Triple 7 and Dead Center 300 gr bullets. First time at the range I put 2 in the same hole at 100 yards. 3 within 8 inches at 200 yards. This is proof at 148 yards. This will be my load from now on.
  7. Just got back from the rifle range. Changed my set up in my Omega completely. Got the breach plug that uses 25ACP for the primer. Using Pyrodex ffg, 110 grains measured, and 300 grain, 44 cal Dead Center bullets. Was using 295 Power Belts and 2 of the 50 grain pellets. First shot was to foul the barrel and then shot 3 times for grouping. All three were within 1.5 inches. Moved the crosshairs and shot 3 more. This time I got 2 in the same hole and the third was 3/4 inch away. Shot at a target at 200 yards and got 3 within a 4" spread All this was done with a parch dampeded with spit and a dry patch behind it. By far my best day at the range with a smokepole.
  8. This is what I am going after if my brother misses during bow season.
  9. Good luck, we will be hunting in Roger Mills county just South of you.
