  1. Happy Birthday Tim,And dont worry about last year because you cant kill a big one if you shoot a decent one and we both know what kind of deer will be there this year:tt1:
  2. every cameraman has his on style. but the basics are start in front of the hunter at about 5 ft then ease in for a close up,then ease back out to 5 ft that way you get every angle on the rack and this is repeated numerous times to get the best cut for the editing.
  3. Canon has a couple good cameras to choose from I would say the gl2 would be a good start they are reasonably priced and the zoom is pretty good.
  4. Just wanted to let everyone know on Davids blog hes asking for your input on best hunting shows so check it out.As for me, I want to see more hunting less talking.
  5. Between the weather and my schedule that turned into a fun hunt, Not to mention Tim was shooting fingers only and made a good shot.
  6. Matt, The setup i use runs around 3000, but you can find some cheaper and you can get that cable from b&h cameras
  7. Gary,Thats a good idea i will have to try that. thanks
  8. Right now i use adobe premiere. On a 5 day trip you could easily go threw 4 60min tapes the trick is having a story line so you have to keep track of every thing that goes on in the hunt to make it tie in together. The amount cut out depends on if its for tv or video ,video hunts last around 3 to 5 mins ,whereas tv hunts go a little more in depth.
  9. With camera, extra batteries ,the base ,arm ,and tripod its around 40 pounds sometimes more. As for getting it up a tree its best to lower a rope and have the hunter tie stuff on piece by piece. And yes it can get hectic trying to get everything on the tree while being quiet and a hunter on the ground wanting to get in the tree.
  10. I got lucky. A friend of mine started his own show also live in same town as David . Best thing to do is start filming your friends and put you a dvd together of some of the hunts. That way you can send it to different companies to watch. If that fails there are some camera schools you can go to but that can get expensive.
  11. two things that make a hunt better is stability and audio, having a good tripod or camera arm will help keep the camera still." even when buck fever kicks in" lol.. and a wireless mic or good shotgun mic will capture sounds that make a hunt better.
  12. Lets just say when your texting in a deer stand and someone says big buck things get slippery.lol
  13. Dont know about you hanging upside down but I do remember you dropping your phone out of the stand, lol
  14. Not a doubt in my mind he would be a great host ,just as long as i get to be his camera man,lol
