If you are wanting to show the picture go to the thread that you found it in and then you should be able to right click and find the address it's linked from onto that forum and then you'll be able to post that address here I believe.

Of course I'd shoot the alive deer...would I want to kill the buck in that way **** no, but when a situation like that occurs you really don't have much of a choice.

I totally agree with torminator. I posted the pics on here to share of the deer I was shown locked. I didn't post them because I thought it was cool a kid I knew shot a monster that was locked on my cousin's farm. It's cool to see them locked, but as far as shooting one while locked goes. No thanks, it'd never feel right. I'd rather have my year going the way it is and know that I've been outsmarted about 4 times by the same deer as to walk up on him fighting another one for an easy shot. If they were both under my stand and started fighting I might feel different about it ,but I don't know. Two more awesome deer though that fall to their horns locked. Awesome find for sure, nothing you can do but shoot the live deer, just sucks that it happens the way it does.

Pics From My Cousin's Farm (2 Big Deer Locked)
SIWhitetailHunter replied to SIWhitetailHunter's topic in Bowhunting
They remained locked. As for the dead one with the wound I'm guessing thats from the early stages of the fight. The two deer are getting mounted together from what I've heard from my cousin and the kid who shot the deer. The deer that's alive is probably going to be pushing into the 180's Non-Typical maybe better...I saw a picture from the taxidermist and the deer looks way bigger than he does on these photos, but really...Better him than me I guess, the only way I'd feel like I hunting a big buck and won would be if they came under my stand I was at full draw on one and then shot. -
Well I'm From Iowa so really i'm in the perfect location, but if i had to choose somewhere else to live. Illinois Kansas Montana Wisconsin Colorado/Wyoming

First and foremost, best situation is a tranquilizer gun to put the one down so that you may free the antlers if you are unable to get close to try and help them out. If that doesn't work, or the DNR doesn't take the time to make something work, see what you can try, if you can't get close enough and still no help from the DNR put the one that's alive down otherwise he's going to suffer.

Season's been going good here, but could be a lot better if the big boys would stop long enough for a shot or come close enough. Haven't had the amount of time to hunt like I'd like with school, but I've put two (doe and a spike that needed to go. This guy kept ruining my hunt one evening had spikes under 7 inches which allows for use of a doe tag in iowa. I hated to shoot him at first, but then when I took a second glimpse I could tell this wasn't a 1 1/2 year old spike but a 2 1/2 year old we guessed him at. )in the freezer so far and could have put a few more down, but am holding off for that buck. Seen some decent ones couple 130's couple 120's, and one 170 inch 10 the last time I was out, to bad school really picked up and I was unable to hunt last weekend, so I'm hoping he's still wanting to walk by my stand again. Know there are plenty of good bucks in the area...It's Iowa. Just need to get some more time in the stand and hopefully thanksgiving week will allow that to happen. Best of luck to everyone.

Pics From My Cousin's Farm (2 Big Deer Locked)
SIWhitetailHunter replied to SIWhitetailHunter's topic in Bowhunting
Yeah the person who shot the deer I haven't talked to, but I don't think he was really excited. It's what the DNR told them to do shoot the live one if he wanted to and tag it with his buck bow tag. I've also seen where someone uses an high power and shoots the antlers though that would be hard. Personally I think a tranquilizer should have been used seeing as though the one deer was dead already. Shot the live one with it...Separate the deer and let the alive one live. Dispose of the other deer, issue the salvage tag to the landowner and chase after the other big boy later on down the road. -
Pics From Cousins Farm 2 Big Deer Locked
SIWhitetailHunter replied to SIWhitetailHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
He was able to keep the rack with a salvage tag. The other hunter who was running out of time and volunteered his tag for this kept the rack from the other. No real winners on this situation. You hate to shoot one that way to fill your tag, but it's a lot better than allowing the deer to suffer and die. -
Here are some pictures my cousin forwarded me from his dad's farm that he stumbled across today. The one deer was already dead at the time it took place, and the DNR told the landowner (my cousin) to get a hold of a bow hunter. My cousin muzzleloader hunts. So he called the first person he could think of with a tag, (IF ONLY I WAS HOME AND NOT AT SCHOOL LOL...) So this is the outcome of two bruisers fighting. A salvaged tag was issued for the already deceased buck. Here is only a few pictures. If you'd like more respond and I'll try to post some more when I have time.

I usually take a bottle of water or two...one usually becomes a toilet but hey it happens. If i'm sittin' all day I'll bring a snack or something light. Usually don't bother bringing a snack just carve the cravings of food with a dip of chew.

Drew I think he was talking about the actual Midwest Whitetail website. When it will be up and running full bore.

It's on the front page of realtree where they usually show small clips of some things and posted twice a week now.

It's looking good Drew just as I've told Chad. Good feel, good information and great to see some hometown people on realtree. By the way this is Josh Allen. Keep it up bud.
