buddy shot at a monster from my stand last night. found his arrow clean miss... wondering if i should go back to the same stand tonight

booners love to hunt if you need a buddy. haha

cant do that around here.

a wise man once told me "everywhere you go there will be #$%#holes and idiots" just gotta learn to walk away... althought i woulda been tempted to drag him into the road... ha ha then again i dont have kids.... good job dad:)

im leasing 165 acres in western new york and im in a pinch. the land owner had gas wells put in this summer and let alone messing up the deer patterns i have food plot problems. we had thought they would have the areas flattend out by the mid june but haha pipe dream. they just finished last friday and now were scrambling to do something with the tilled up and flattend earth.... knocking our heads ADVICE PLEASE!!!! thanks

shot two doe yesterday (fill the freezer) one morning one evening let them both lay until today. recovered both this morning althought one was found by a yote or a fox i think.... not cool.. but there is meat in the freezer:D bitter sweet... i love that feeling if it ever leaves i will hang it all up..... take everyones advice i do a little of everything.. see horns decide shooter look away look back pick a spot i want my arrow to go get mad DEER STEAKS!!!!!

The first time i saw uncle ted i was shocked. i thought he was insane. As time went on and my obsession with the outdoor channel progressed i came to understand him. i heard he had a new book out... i came home from hunting one night and purchased Ted White and Blue. Read the book in about a week (mostly from a treestand). Now i'm an avid supporter of my uncle ted. i even convinced my mother to read it:p. in my opinion he is correct about 99%. Just wondering if anyone else has read it and what you think of his ideas.....

since the boom boom started over here deer activity has decreased 75% for me personally.. ive got a touch discouraged but as said before who knows whats walking down the trail.... cant shoot em from the couch..... going to bed now and heading out in the mornin..... Good luck!!!

well the boys and i have a problem mature deer will boot at the sound an engine driving into the woods?? deer will just let you drive on by? What do you guys think about this. ive heard all sorts of stories but im not convinced on any... HELP!!!! thanks:D

rain rain rain..... ugh not much deer movement.... some small ones but no shooters....

same exact thing happened to my buddy this year although we never recovered his deer... the deer is dead somewhere.. as said before i find it hard to believe that the deer is alive with two holes in him.... good luck...

thanks guys and as for that rub its under one of my stands already. its about ten yards off a feild and ive noticed form another close by stand that the deer are walking under it to get into the feild.(following the brush edges throught the hardwoods and into the feild) mainly just before dark. ive hunted it once this season 3 does right under me... with the rut approaching i might try to slip back in there on of these nights if i can get off work!!!!

im not sure if i just made up the name or i heard it somewhere and i somehow retained it. what do you guys think of grunting without seeing deer. ive always tried to grunt only to get the attention of a passing buck. but as time goes by in the stand, staring at my camo looking for hidden messages i cant seem to keep my hands off the grunt tube. grunting without seeing or hearing a deer good or bad? another one i just stumbled upon a new rub a large one almost had to change the shorts large... its less than three days old hunt it asap??

i do like the idea of cutting paths through. we have talked about doing the same with our scrub brush... i feel your pain our thickets have about a hundred trails we tried to find the most used one and ran with that and like you said the rut should help.... heard one grunting and chasing tonight. got my blood flowing:D:D:D good luck

My advice if its thick and the deer are using it as a bedding area STAY OUT!! the deer need places that nobody bothers them in. i have areas of brush to think to fit a pencil in and we stay out of them. my best advice is hunt the edges or the trails going in and out. get yourself positioned between that bedding area and a food source. find the trails and get about 20 - 30 yards off of them downwind. slip in quietly undected and lower the boom on a monster.... hopefully that will help you out a bit... best of luck:)

the big man upstairs didnt grace me with a monster. althought a spike walked under me and i let him cruise on by. a raccoon was checkin his eyelids for light leaks about 10 yards infront of me. I could see about 6-8 deer in the feild next to me all running around (no big horns). didnt bump anything going in or comming out. all in all a good day in the woods. got back to camp and had a couple two three pops round a bonfire with the boys. then we turned in for the night... no monster but i wouldnt want my bday any other way... thanks for the advice guys... best of luck

i smoke. but from the time i get out of the shower, untill i get undressed and everything is in their scent proof bags im a nonsmoker. yeah i get a little "itchy" in the stand but its worth it. i see more deer more often. i smoked in the stand until this year.and yes ive noticed a difference. ive yet to go out and not see deer. haha knock on wood. i use all Dead Down Wind products and scentlok. My father still smokes in the stand. and yes he sees deer also. to me i feel like im doing the woods and game a favor by not leaving my scent all over. i feel as if im a better hunter/outdoorsman for doing all i can.

ok so im goin out hunting and with a little luck ill come home with more than a six pack....
