  1. Tim-------When is the Kansas turkey hunt? I need to put in for vacation time @ the 1st of the year.
  2. Smith & Wesson 638 AirWeight
  3. In a few months it starts all over again, see you in Kansas hopefully with a couple of longbeards. Bob
  4. I thought I was the one. Looks like I'm not alone.
  5. Anyone else a "Bah, Humbugger". Scrooge was right. I hate the Christmas season. All the hype to buy, buy, sale , sale. They started this year around Labor Day. I'm glad when it's over.
  6. Good luck, You should see some pretty big bulls also.
  7. Sounds like a plan. Let me know & I'll apply online. I like doing a group application, no fun hunting alone. The way I read it we need a hunting license to apply. We can buy that online when we make our applications. Bob
  8. We still have till 16th to apply. Group sounds good to me. Can you check it out on the Alaska website? let me know. Bob
  9. Fly----is it time to apply for the POW black bear tag. I saw on another forum that 12/16 is the deadline. Can we apply as a group tag? Bob
  10. -7* here in Durango this AM. Wind was calm, so not much wind chill factor. I'd rather have 0* than 97*.
  11. That's a dandy buck. Conglads. We got 3 deer in Guernsey County. 2 doe & a button buck. My brother hit a small buck, we tracked it to some posted ground----heard 2 shots from there. Guess they got it.

    Ohio

Anyone heading to the Buckeye State to hunt deer? My brother has a cabin in SE Ohio, Guernsey County. I'm headed back for the shotgun season that starts 12/2. Anyone else headed out? Bob
  13. Fly, This is the best thread I've read in years. It's what deer hunting is all about. I'm headed to Ohio to hunt with my brother & his sons next week. Deer camp is 2nd to none. Bob
  14. I'm in the minority, I hate hunting in the snow. After the 1st day it gets crunchy, the elk can hear you coming a 1/2 mile away. This year we got about 15" day before the season. I found the elk but couldn't get to them. It was a good mile to them-----it would have taken me a good 2 hours to get there, then wait till sundown, hopefully kill one, then clean it & then a 4 to 5 hour hike out. If it was dry, I could have done it. But with the snow, I just watched them for 2 days. I couldn't still hunt with the crunch, crunch with every step. Then add the extra effort it takes to walk in 15" snow. I would rather blue bird days.
  15. Ouch, hope things work out. Seems like the Caribou hunting in Quebec is screwed up. I went up there on a winter hunt a few years ago-----it was a bust. Seemed to me that when we were driving in Ontario---they liked us---Americans. But when we were in Quebec, they seemed to resent us---Americans. They liked my money but-----------. It's going to be a long time before I step foot in Quebec.
  16. Good deal-----How did the rest of the group do? Guess you'll be back next year. Let's try to meet then. Bob
  17. That's a nice bull. Good Job. You are getting to be an old pro at this elk hunting.
  18. I think it's all marketing hype. Watch the wind. Fred Bear or Ben Pearson didn't use it----And they did alright.
  19. Jesse, if I were you I would head to Cabela's in Wheeling & handle all of them. Throw them up to your shoulder, pick the one that feels right. Fit is the most important when it comes to a shotgun. They all are reliable. Bob
  20. Either will work. I'd stick with partitions, if it's not broke why fix it? Bob
  21. Good job----much better eatin there than an ole ruttin buck. Bob Save the ivories.
  22. Season doesn't start until Saturday. Weather is clear & cold. We got some snow & rain on Wednesday. Dawg----PM me maybe we can have a cold one or coffee. I live in Durango.
  23. Shoot one close to the trail. Them things are big.
