  1. Long drive to get a point. But if you draw unit 10--it will be worth it. CB
  2. Going down isn't the problem, getting my fat butt back out is CB
  3. Looks like I drew another preference point. 3 plus 4 weighted points. At least I'll get a refund. CB
  4. Strut----What does it do at 25 yards? Must punch a hole in the target about the size of a softball. CB
  5. Shaun-----How are those Senators doing against the Pens??? Go "Sid the Kid":boxing: CB
  6. I just got off the phone with my brother. He's buying a hunting cabin in SE Ohio. He's been hunting there with his 2 sons & the 2 brothers who owned it. The 2 brothers are getting up in years & agreed to sell it to Bill, my brother. Looks like I have a place to hunt whitetails again. Bill never felt comfortable asking me because he was a guest but now that he owns it-----different story. His youngest son came out to Colorado this past elk season & hunted with me. He got a nice 5x6 bull. It was nice enough to mount & we are planning a meeting in KS somewhere on I-70 when the taxidermist calls. Looks like I'll put my slug gun & my whitetail stuff in the pickup also. I'm really excited. It's been 20 years since I hunted with my brother. Dad is gone but he always wanted a hunting cabin. Bill is taking some starts from the snowball bush, lilacs, peonies from Dad's--------So he'll be there too. CB
  7. swamp------I went thru my stuff. I found 3 shells----3" #6 shot. Those Activ shells were the best. I should have bought out the store 10 years ago----Activ went broke about then. PM me if you want them. CB
  8. Too little ---too late. The horse has left the barn---forget about closing the gate.
  9. I would try using the standard factory full choke. My buddy uses the factory full & has good results for turkey. I would use 3" turkey loads with #6 shot-----you're good to go at 40yards. For ducks i would use a modified choke & # 3 steel for ducks. Down to #2 steel for geese over decoys. Hope this helps. CB

    He is risen

Shouldn't this be in the spiritual camp ?
  11. That looks like it----thanks. CB
  12. I just watched Eastman's Hunting Journal. He has a donut on his barrel just above the forearm. It's not an anchor point for a sling because it's anchored in the stock. What is it? And what is it for? CB
  13. That $140 kind of sticks in my craw-----that's why I apply here in Colorado & NM. But AZ does have some nice elk. CB
  14. TX-----you got it covered. I think this year Colorado is going to a hybrid type draw for units requiring 5 or more points. If you have 5 points then a % will go to the highest preference points & a % to those with 5 points or more. At least you'll have a chance if you have 5 points----slim chance but still a chance. This is for deer, elk, & antelope. Moose, sheep, & mtn goat are in a different bracket. OU----to answer you question---yes a muzzleloader will as close to the rut as you can get. Archery is going during the same time. I've always thought the 1st rifle season is the one to go on. Elk are still bugling---at least the 1st morning---after the guns start, that's another story. Good luck, CB
  15. Coles-----Just wait---your time is coming. The eyes go & try shooting out of bi-focals. CB
  16. Hang in there, remember the good.
  17. Forgot to add-----7 Rem Mag is a great round. Shoots flat & packs a punch. Most guys that I know shoot a 160 grain bullet for elk & mule deer. I'm sure it will work great on bighorn sheep when you get a tag.
  18. I've got a Tikka #M695 in 30/06. They flat shoot right out of the box!! Trigger is great. I mounted a Nikon Monark 6X & went elk hunting. I'm sure the T3 is the same. Conglads on the gun. CB
  19. I went to Manhattan the 1st weekend in May. The easterns were gobbling great. Outfitter had a place an hour south of there for Rio. They were hitting hard at the same time. Hope this helps. CB
  20. I shoot a BT-99. It's kind of tuff shooting doubles though---- CB
  21. The mule deer eat everyone I plant. CB
  22. I wished you could still bait here in Colorado. CB
  23. Long time since I've seen you here AJ. Conglads on the oryx tag. I think the off range is a little more challenging of a hunt. Good luck-----they are a great trophy & they very good eatin too. Sorry to see that X-ray. Looks like a long rehap. You still have an invitation to my elk camp if your interested. CB
