  1. Wow ,How crazy if that man !!! Good pics !
  2. Tracking as we all know is an art , you either have the knowledge for it or you don't. But for some hunters ,we tend no to pay attention ot the most important things such as "Sign" . Whitetail sign weither it may be scrapes ,rubs ,tracks ,shed antlers ,droppings and such are more important than most hunters think when it comes to harvesting a mature Whitetail buck. How many hunters on here take the time to scout out for these things ? How do you track ? What do you look for ,for sign ? What has been your success at tracking ? Which areas do you like to hunt more ,spruce ,hardwoods ,etc.? Tracking big bucks can be tricky ,,,it is sorta like a language whitetails speak but without speaking a word . Can you tell the differance between a buck ,doe ,fawn ,heavy buck ,small buck ,heavy doe ,small doe ,,what ever it may be ? great success comes with knowledge ,it is not just luck in some cases . For me scouting can be just as rewarding as harvesting a mature Whitetail Deer. Scouting trail ,river bottoms , funnels ,hardwoods, spruce, can tel lyou alot of what type of bucks are in the surrounding areas . How many believe that 90% of hardwood bucks antlers are alot lighter color then spruce bucks ? Spruce bucks antlers are alot more chocolate color then hardwood buck . Please share some of your experiences and tactics in which you use to track or scout Whitetail Deer . You will be surprised on how much we can all learn from such endavours !!!!
  3. Cody and I just happened to find this impressive shed antler on the weekend while out scouting for bear sites. This shed scores approx 68 inches typical also !!! We were really surprised to have found it so close to where we hunt. Here are some pics of it .
  4. I would like to say Congrats to my wonderful hunting wife .I knew that you could do it .It just had to be the right time . You have put alot of work into this day and you deserve it more then anyone . I just wish that I was there to share the excitement with you . And a 5 point buck at that for the first one thats awesome . The deer weighed 151lbs . It has been another firstfor me and Kelly and I thank her for that !!
  5. Cody and I headed out at 4am on the 17th and started to make our way to Mirimichi to pick up my license that was waiting for us there . We arrived in Mirimichi at 7:45 am and got to chat with the local DNR and such about the bear hunting up there and they told us that the bear population was good for the area that we would be hunting . After getting our license we were off to go hunting . Just as we were entering the town limits we stopped by to see some fisherman fishing gaspereau. Cody had never seen this before so we decided to stop and show him how it ws done . The guys were nice enough to take us out on the scow and look in the nets for the fish ,cody really liked this . After that we headed for the warf to wait for our guide to come in from lobster fishing and take us to the sites . After arriving at the warf cody also got to see how the boats worked and how the fisherman sold their catch. It truely was a father son experience. So after about 2 hours our guide pulls up to the dock and gives us a shout and asks if we were the ones there for a bear hunt ,,,,,,,,and after that we were off to his home for a little bit of chatting and introductions. Gary has a beautiful home and a game room to die for !!!! He even has a record yukon moose on his wall which he went on a guided hunt for . Gary got to show us some of his trophies,in which he sure has harvested many of .LOL,LOL . After a little bit of sharing stories and such we were off on the Rhino to put some bait out . What beautiful bear country they have there I will tell ya . The first bait we came to was very active and needed to be restocked so we did that and looked around for a few minutes and went on our way . After arriving back home Gary's son came in to meet us and told us that he had a really nice bruin at his bait last evening on cam and that we should take him that night if we could ,,,,Which we did !!!!!! So after seeing the pics of the bear Gary and I both thought that we would try and persue this fella . So after shooting my bow a few shots and making sure everything was still in tune ,cody,Gary and I were off to the stand for the evening hunt. After arriving at the bait we noticed that the bait had been hit again since the pics and that it was looking really good for a bear that eveing . After gettting situated in the stand after about 10 minutes we had to make a few adjustments and stuff but we were now settled for the evening. After sitting for about 45 min it clouded over and man did it ever rain ,,it was coming down in buckets I'll tell ya and we thought then we may be out of luck ,but after about 20 mins the thunder and lightening was gone and the sun was back out . Mosquitoes were ready for supper 'll tell ya after that ,LOL,LOL . After this was over the woods was dead silent till 8:35pm when I first seen a bear across the swamp . So I got into position and stood up for the shot . Well just about 9:10 ,,,,Guess what ?????????????? Cody had to PEE !!!!!!! NOT GOOD !!!!.I had heard the bear coming and did not want him to move but he meant business man ,he really had to pee LOL,LOL so when he stood up the bear bursted back in to the bush again ,,,,,,welll just about that time ,I could have just you know ,,my pants but ,with cody's bladder now empty and darkness sneaking up ,I said NO ONE MOVE OR EVEN BREATH for the next 25 mins LOL,LOL Well just about 5 mins after cody peeing I heard him again .At this time it was 9:25 pm and it then was too dark to video it so that was really crappy but we had to make a move . I stood up and got into position ,,and knocked my 5595 GOLD TIP with a 100gr SONIC broadhead and "FIREKNOCK " equipped ready to fly !!!!!!!! Well before this was done, out he stepped ,,,,WOW I said ,,,NICE BEAR !!!! I asked my guide if he was ok to take him and he told me that he was the one they were after and to take him if I wanted . Ok ,watching the bear ,I slowly drew my bow and took good aim ,,,he was quartering away so I had just what I wanted . I let her fly just ahead of the hind quarter and as I watched the fireknock go and then disappear up under the hide and up behind the ribs ,I knew then I had a good hit ,,,,,YES ,we all said YES ,,,,then I was ready to pee LOL,LOL. It made a complete pass through and the "FIREKNOCK "was lit up like christmas !!!!! The bruin made one big lunge for the woods and I could see him start to slow down then ............then few more lunges he was running out of steam .........then that was it ..........for a few seconds then came the moan that us hunters long to hear !!!!!! He was now down ,,,my 2009 SPRING BEAR HUNT was complete !!!!!!!!! After all the comotion was over ,,Gary and Cody were off like a flash LOL,LOL and forgot all about me in the treestand with all the camera gear and bow and pack sack LOL,LOL who was more excited ???? LOL,LOL When I got down to them ,they mentioned there was no blood ,but that is not unusual for bears . I said guys he is right iver there and we walked over not 30 yards from the bait and there he lay ,my 270lb SPRING BEAR . Guys ,for somone who has never experienced harvesting a bruin ,you have to try this . I have to say that this was one the most exciting bear hunts I have ever been on ,,, MY GUIDE, MY SON AND I all present ,,it sure will be remembered by all !!!! I again have to send great thanks out ot our friend Francis for setting me up with a wonderfull guide and a top notch hunt . Thank you for everything guys . We have booked our 2010 hunt already along with some coyote hunting in the fall !!!! We will see you soon guys . This hunt meant alot to me .Having my son there with me and having a new bow that my wife bought me for christmas ,,it was one of those hunts where I wanted to make it memorable and ,,,with Gary's help we succeeded !!! Well for what you all have been waiting for ,,here is a pick of the big bruin that we harvested ......this bear would have easily weighed 370 to 400 lbs in the fall but he weighed in at 270 this spring. Here he is .........hope you enjoy the pics ........
  6. I am going to try the Crimson Talons this fall !! Used Sonics Last fall and this Spring had a good turnout with bear and deer but time to try something different
  7. It sure is a good buck but I think he is 18-19" and as you can see his tines are not much longer in lenght than the browtines and mass is just ok so I say 120-130 max !! Shooter buck though !
  8. Should be a good year for bears !!! Here are a few more pics for ya !!!! You will have to excuse the blurry pics ,,they have been licking the camera ,,,,I am trying to get some face pics to look for scars ,,or get my camera eaten LOL,LOL
  9. In this thread I will be posting alot of my bear pics for the 2009 Black Bear Season ,hope you enjoy ,If you have any questions please feel free to ask. We are hoping that all of our sports will harvest a respctable trophy off them in the 2009 Fall Black Bear season . This is just an idea of what you can expect to see when you hunt with us !! Thanks Jamie & Kelly !!
  10. Wow, many varients goes into being a pro-staffer. As for just the money aspect ,well there probably would not be many pro-staffers if thats all it consisted of LOL,LOL . My main "Job" so to speak is being a maintenance worker at a Hospital here in Nova Scotia Canada. I also Own/Operate a Guide Service here called Cobequid Big Game Outfitters . www.cobequidbiggameoutfitters.com I am a pro-staff shooter for "Firenocks" and I can tell you that it is nice to have some benefits such as free gear, pleasure of meeting new people ,,,promoting their product ,traveling, shooting and such but it is not about the money ,,,actually there is no money what so ever involved . The biggest benitfit for me as a staffer is meeting new people and traveling to various Outdoor shows and Exibitions. Most times people or viewers see that you are a pro-staffer and right away you make big bucks !!! Not !!! You have to have ambition for one and Devotion #2 !!!! Everyone has a dream to become famous ,,,ya ya ya but hey if I can only help a few people in this world that means i have tried and I feelthat I gave my efforts in doing so . I am a also a certified archery coach for Canada and have helped many archers throughout their hunting and target archery careers . Not for the money ,,for the fun of it ,,,the passion for it !!! I tip my hat to the pro-staffers for taking the time to give time ot others and be there to help them out and being an Idol for my children !! God Bless !
  11. Ok ,here is as bit of footage for you all to see ,Kelly and I decided we would go out and site her bow in as it was such a great day to do it . So after we got done sighting her bow in I asked her if she would do a little video of me shooting mine and this is what we came up with ,LOL,LOL . By 3 reasons I mean , 1st arrow ,2nd arrow & 3rd arrow ...What a sweet bow !!
  12. 2 nice mounts you have there man !! Do you have a score on them ?
