  1. Running the trap line one morning in Iowa. I saw one chasing a doe that I knew would make the books and couldn't even guess on score it was so big, turns out a few weeks later it was killed during 1st shotgun... From what I've been told it went over 200"
  2. Shot him two days before shotgun season with my bow. Dad saw him from the combine and I stalked to within 15 yards of him and arrowed him in his bed. Boy was it a rush! Has 15 total points, scoring 130-140, with a 1.5" drop tine above his left ear! And A yote I shot at 130 yards. After a long stalk.

  4. ok, i want something that works ok in low light, and with good zoom. ill check that out.
  5. I'm wanting to start filming my deer hunts. I already have the tree mount to mount the camera on. I was wanting to know what kind of video camera I should look into? What companies make them... etc. Any tips on doing this?
  6. got it taken care of, the screw was loose on the string stopper, and i put another stabilizer on it. Its way quieter now. Im from the Monticello Area, which is north of Cedar rapids.
  7. Ok thanks a bunch, ill definately look into that
  8. What else do I need to mount my first deer besides this kit and a video or book? http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/product/102431/tony-rusiecki-whitetail-right-turn-kit Any Advice for a beginner? Shooting a wall hanger each year gets expensive lol. I have one at the taxidermist and was wanting to learn how to myself. I have a great background in fur/hide handling due to trapping and skinning.
  9. I started with 3 blade muzzys and they worked out pretty good. This year I went to rage so I didn't have to mess with tuning all over again and loved them. Huge holes and flies like a deild tip. I've heard montec tekans are some pretty durable heads. Like guys shooting deer and pulling them out of the dirt from a pass through and killing another. Rages will be on the list for next year even with the price.
  10. And the winner is...... Whoever said that the string stopper being loose. Tightened it down because I just noticed there was a screw holding it in. That cured some of it so the metallic sound is gone. Put another stabilizer on it. Now it's just a loud thwack. I'm betting a better stabilizer will help once I get it to a shop.. Might try a heavier arrow too. I just figured it to be about 367 (not counting nock, insert, and blazer vanes). Also there's no quiver on it.
  11. I don't know the arrow weight. They're maxima hunters with blazers and the weight forward tech. 30 inchers. With 100 gr heads. It could be the string Stopper/silencer I guess. I took the stabilizer off and there's not much difference in noise. It sounds like hitting a pan with a wooden spoon but for a very short time. Pretty soon I'm going to take it up to a bowshop and get it paper tuned with a new rest and stabilizer to see how it shoots. Nope no pics.
  12. Shooting my bow tonight for the first time in a few months, I noticed it was really loud. I am shooting a '09 or '10 Martin Firecat, octane hostage rest, string leeches, about a 4 or 8oz stabilizer with nothing fancy on it (its just a weight). At 70 pounds. http://www.martinarchery.com/2010web/firecat_tr2.php Are the cams on these bows just going to be loud? It almost sounds like someone clanging on a pan every time i shoot. Would a better stabilizer help out? or could it be the string suppressor? its wobbling around where its connected to the riser.
  13. that aint hunting in my mind, the high fence s***
