  1. I'm in a slugger only zone here too but can honestly say I'm not one for firearms hunts put to vid anymore. They just lack something to me. Probably the second sound. BOOM....that's all folks. Tune in next time for another exciting episode. I like watching a hunter reach full draw on his quarry and an arra dissapear in the sweet spot. The whole cycle. The un-noticed draw, the closeness of the hunt, the careful aim and control over the excitement, the sound of the arrow release, the THWACK upon impact and the sound of the death run not being shadowed by a gun blast. Yeah baby! Now that's the good stuff to me anyhow. Truth be told... before I took up bowhunting I was looking for the same type of vids you are talking about. Now darn near any gun hunt is like watching a pre recorded football game you already know the outcome of. They start the same and they end the same way most every time.
  2. Yup gotta be careful. Them little limbs can be trickier than a greased pig.:saber: Heal up quick.
  3. WTG bro. It must be love,I see you guys got the matching shades going on already.:cool2: Least there's no planes flying proposal banners overhead.
  4. Weddings are fun. I had 2 of 'em.:clown: I suppose your safe- didn't see any pics of you with the garder.
  5. Man not only is he getting chunky, he's a hairy little dude lol Good to hear pops is coming around too.
  6. Hard to keep a secret when you could give a rats pooper at this point. Emotions cloud judgement. Some things you just need to talk about someway, somehow. I took a nap thinking I'd wake up in a better mood. NOT. Police handled situation best they could last night. Apparently she's partially to blame but that's no excuse for what happened to her. HANDS OFF MY BABIES MOMMA TUFF GUY.:hammer1: Hate to say it but now it's getting handled under my terms. Sorry guys, I don't know how else to deal with something like this. Fight fire with fire is the best I can come up with. Bruises and blood work 2 ways. I'll bet most of you would feel the same if it happened to someone you love. I'll be around.
  7. By a dude her friend knew. Heads are gonna roll folks. The love of my life and the mother of my child. Don't mess with a country boy punk funks...... You don't hit a woman PERIOD! specially when her man aint around to defend her. Now get jacked up on some of this.:robot: You wont feel a thing bad azz. We'll see ya on the news crying like a baby telling your side of the story. If you guys don't see me around for a bit, I may be hanging with Tim in the tank.
  8. Pretty neat pattern on the top snake. Long as you're wackin 'em I sure wouldn't mind getting my hands on a couple of those skins. Hint hint. I suppose you just toss them in the field or something anyhow huh? Pete's probably pretty ticked a you about now.
  9. Our preacher would have dunked his own head in the holy water till he floated.(first time) Fun times for the bride,, groom, and wedding party, just not in our little churches would that ever fly around here. I liked the uniqueness of it though. Wish we'd thought of that on Grandmas lawn in front of a judge before the pond party!
  10. Careful buddy- always be sure of what's beyond your target. Bad shot IMO, lol.
  11. Guess I felt compelled to ask a very general question here I hope can lead to more discussion on the points I want to address. Hopefully the conversation will start itself as I'm heading out tonight for a bit. My tally is right around 50 going into this season. To me that's a pretty respectable # for my areas bag limits, time at it, and short seasons compared to other states. Let's start with how many... or approximately how many "deer in general" (bucks and does) you have killed thus far in your hunting lifetime, the length of your season, and your states bag limits.
  12. You guys sure do spend some time doing your homework. Hope you're rewarded big time come the final exam! Good luck to ya's.
  13. If I see him here at home I'll send ya a pack of steaks in his memmory. I'll proudly snap a few field photos and post them here, add the antlers to the decorative bonepile and keep the loins for myself. I'll look at the antlers before I let out a big BUUUUUURP!!! (my compliments to the chef) and say to myself.... a hunt done right! Mission accomplished. Time for a nap with this full belly of the good stuff. I'll shoot your dang doe too and throw her in the freezer with him for company:) Just enjoy the upcoming season is all I can tell ya.
  14. Nice pics bud, but only you can answer that. You gonna keep it on that trail or move it around some?
  15. Pretty cool. Now to put one of them signs in your shooting lane you'll be all set.
  16. Yeah but there's only one.:hammer1: Looks edible, I was expecting to see Raeman noodles and Bubba cola from the title:)
  17. I thought the baking soda absorbed odors. Wouldn't that just make you a more concentrated scent if any residue were to remain in the fabric? I used to use this- now I just hunt.
  18. That's a pretty crisp pic. What camera are you shootin?

  20. That looks good Tom. Almost to purdy to take huntin'. .....almost!
  21. DEBUNKED! Did kinda make me go,... hmmmmm crazy fools.
  22. I certainly have a great deal of respect for the guys and gals that can consistantly pick a certain class buck (if not a specific buck) at seasons start and manage to hang a tag on them year after year. Setting personal goals in hunting is as important to me as setting them in life. Without goals ambition gets lost, if that means 160" of bone is what trips your trigger then by golly only shoot yourself 160 class bucks. This is kinda easy for me to reply to without passing judgement on anyones standards. Over the past 20 yrs of hunting whitetail, killing some big ones and some puppies, I like to keep realistic and oppertunistic at the same time. When a legal buck steps into my sights it's time to make a quick decision amidst all the excitement. I don't guestimate scores until the buck is on the ground. I don't have any trail cams to let me know of the monarch I would have never known about less I seen him with my own two eyes. My choices are made on the spot taking into concideration the conditions leading up to the oppertunity, the oppertunity itself, and the already known feeling of what it would be like to lay that particular buck down for a dirt nap. Guess I can understand the frustration felt in the original post. What gets to me most about the way inches add up is when I see alot of the young fellas starting threads asking for confirmation or permission if you will to kill a certain buck. Like our standards mean more to them than their own. Just seems to me alot of the spirit of the hunt has been lost for some along the way and that's upsetting to see, but now that we know how to grow 'em I don't expect that to change anytime soon. It's no different than growing giant pumpkins, when it comes down to size it's human nature to be competetive or make a sport of it. I'll keep on meat hunting. That by no means gives the the studs a pass, just means more meat and I don't have to shoot as many.
  23. Yup that thing takes some crazy good pics. Had me fooled. I miss that old pony you had running around the ranch but good to see he's got a worthy replacement.
