This is the longbeard that I killed opening day of this past spring season. It was 23 lbs., had a 10 1/2" beard and 1 1/4" spurs. But the neat part was that it had coal black wings with no barring. Has anyone ever seen this before? I talked to a lot of guys who've been hunting and killing turkeys a lot longer than me and I haven't come across anyone who's seen this before (in person). I was told that this color pahse only happens in about one in every 50,000 birds. I don't know if that's accurate or not but maybe someone on here knows. I know it's a genetic trat where I hunt because in 2009 I killed a bird that had 5 feathers on each wing that were jet black, the rest had the normal barring. I think we have another bird on the property that's black as well. Thoughts?

Anybody own this stand and if so what's the differance between it and the Viper SS? The only differance I can see is the Outfitter is 1 pound heavier, has a foot rest and is $229 on sell on Cabela's wesite compared to $279 for the Viper SS. Any help would be appreciated.

Remington Premier AccuTip Bonded Sabot Slug
Huntinfool replied to Huntinfool's topic in Shotguns & Accessories
Thanks for the info. beagleboy, I think I'm going to stick with the Lightfields as well. -
Has anyone tried the Remington Premier Accu Tip Bonded Sabot Slugs yet? They are expensive but I thought about giving a couple of boxes a try. I've shot Lightfields for the past 9 or 10 years and love them but these look like some hot preformers. Anybody let some fly yet?

I had a 23 yard shot on this doe and hit her a little farther back than I wanted to. She went about 70 yards out of site and I thougt I heard her crash but I left her for about 3 hours then went back. I found her where I thought I heard her her go down in a small backwater area. Once I dressed her out I found that I got the liver and clipped one lung on the way out. The Rage 3 blade did a nice job!

I had several differant bucks on this scrape and these are the 2 better ones. Both are on the licking branch too... kinda neat. The second buck has nice G2's but a broken G3 on the left main beam. I'm not complaining though, I'd still like a crack at him !

Great job on a huge doe!!!

My buddy got this pick last week of this buck on a food plot he put in for his son. Looks like a good one, hopefully we'll see him on the hoof soon!

Good mass on his bases, nice main beams and good G2's and 3's... I'd have to fling an arrow at him. -
Very nice deer, I'd say around 170ish...

Looks like the buck in these pics had some damage to his rear leg, it has a funky growth on it. Maybe that contributed to his uneven rack?

cool video...

Looks like a decent 8 pointer but he doesn't have any brow tines. Check out his left front leg, it has a heck of a knot on it. What do you guys think it is?

Yeah, I think I'll mount wings with the fan.

I killed it in southern Indiana and thanks everybody for the welcome!

I've been reading the deer and turkey threads here for awhile now and and thought I'd finally make post. I shot this Gobbler last week and it was a little unusual. It had several solid black wing feathers on each wing. The black feathers you can see on the wing pictued were mirrored on the other wing. I thought it was pretty neat and the other guys I showed the bird to had never seen such a thing (and neither have I). Anyone else ever see this before? Also it was 25 lbs., had 1 1/4" spurs and an 11 1/4" beard. I hope the pics came out OK, first go-round with this posting thing.
