I have a Stevens model 67 series "E" .410 pump shotgun. This gun was a Christmas present from my dad when I was in the 4th grade. I squirrel hunted with this gun for years until a few years ago when I began having trouble with the gun jamming. When a shot is fired, the next round in the magazine tube will jump over the tang on the "slide" as all the parts diagrams call it. I have been looking for a solution to this problem for the past 5 years. I have contacted all the manufacturers and online gunsmith shops such as Savage and Brownell's. I have had this gun at 3 different gunsmiths around here and none of theme were able to fix it or agree with me as to what exactly the problem is. Well, I'm not a gunsmith, but as it turns out I do know a thing or 3 about mechanisms and design. It is aparrent to me that if I ever want this gun in usable condition again I am going to have to fix it my self. I know that the tang on the slide assembly is worn and is too short. I need to weld it up and reshape it to get it back to its original dimension. If you have one of these guns turn the gun upside down and load a shell into the magazine. The spring in the magazine tube keeps pressure on the shell so that it rests against the "tang" on the slide. The spring pressure that is keeping the shell against the tang allows the shell to follow the slide back, where at the end of the stroke, it is dropped onto the lifter, which then kicks the shell up in front of the bolt as the entire action is moving forward. Then, the bolt pushes the shell into the chamber. On my gun the tang on the slide is worn. When I fire a round, the next shell in the magazine jumps over the tang. When this happens, the lifter is now jammed because the entire action needs to move all the way back before the shell is dropped onto the lifter. I know this sounds a little hard to follow, but if you have one of these guns, just turn it over and load a shell. You will instantly see how the shell rests against the tang. I need to know the dimension of that tang. If anyone out there has this EXACT model and feels confident disassembling and reassembling it, please measure this dimension with calipers (as shown in the photos below) and let m know what it is. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated. On a side note, I appreciate ALL the help I can possibly get with this, but please understand that I have exhausted every possible resource for replacing this part. Unless you know of someone who has one of these guns and could help me or would like to sell me theirs for parts, please do not post blind links to gun parts websites unless you happen to know for 100% certain that they have the part I need and it is in stock. As noted above I have been going through every possible resource and lead for the past 5 years and I have heard/seen them all. No one has this part and no one has been able to help me so far. So, unless you have seen this part or a parts gun on the internet for absolute certain, please don't make any blind suggestions or post any blind links. I don't want to come off as rude at all, but I either need a direct answer as to the dimension that the tang is supposed to be or a direct link to this part or a gun that is for sale for spare parts Thanks. The current dimension is .620" as shown in the last photo. I need to know what this dimension is off of a working .410 ga. Thanks again.

AKC Boxer Pups in NC (approved by Scott/Realtree)
treeinwalker replied to treeinwalker's topic in Classifieds
4 left I have 2 males and 2 females left if anyone is interested. Get'm staarted finding downed deer for you this year!!! -
(Classifed ad approved by Scott/Realtree) I have 6 AKC registered Boxer pups for sale in Willard, NC. There are 4 males and 2 females. 3 Males are very flashy and 1 has white markings. 1 female is very flashy and 1 has white markings. The reason I'm posting this ad on the Realtree forums is because these are no ordinary Boxers. Our male (Roscoe) recovers downed deer. My wife taught him to blood trail deer when he was 6 months old. He found his first deer for her when he was 7 months old. The dam (Daisy) has also started blood trailing. We bought Roscoe when he was 4 months old. Right away we noticed his extreme level of curiosity and unusually strong instincts. Add to those qualities a sense of smell that I had never seen in 30 years of raising and hunting coon hounds and right away we had an instant woods-savy tracking dog. Thinking we were getting just another yard dog for the kids to play with, we wound up with an etremely intelligent hunting dog that loves kids as much as he loves hunting. This dog actually begs to go with me when he sees me in camo (fortunately for me I'm the only one around here who has not yet needed his services). This dog finds dead deer for my wife and friends that would have otherwise been wasted. We decided to add a female of like characteristics to raise puppies. I can't guarantee that these puppies will have the same instincts as their parents, but genetically, they have a great shot at it if these instincts are excercised. I'll shut up now and let you folks look at some pics. Prices vary according to pick $350-$650. Tails and dew-claws are done. First deworming is done and first shots will be given at 5 weeks. Pups were born 7/25/10 and will be ready 9/7/10 (roughly). I can arrange to drive and meet anyone who might be interested for gas money. If you think you'd like to have a great pet that might b able to help you and your buddies locate your downed game in the thickest of thickets like we hunt around here, one of these pups just might wind up being the very best friend you will ever have. I know that there isn't enough money in Dubai to buy their dad. Call or send e-mail for updated pics. Will Boone 910-512-5564 [email protected] Sire (Roscoe) Dam (Daisy) Litter Random Puppy Pics

Game Camera Pics, a few nice Bucks and dogs in trough
treeinwalker replied to OHbuckeye1's topic in Deer Hunting
Can you feed them during the season? Also, after the season, you need to find a friend with some coon dogs and go to town in there. Also, are those feral dogs? -
any pics from this year yet? I think we'd all like to know if you have any pics of either of these 2 bucks or this season yet????

Buddy of mine has his scouting camera up and has lots of pics of a little 5-point with some type of dark-colored tumors growing randomly on his skin. For now they are about the size of a nickel or quarter. We deleted all the pics, but he's collecting more this week and I'll post some as soon as I get them. I know I've seen pics of this same thing on here before in other threads, but it's been so long, I can't find any threads relating to this topic and I don't remember those other thread names. Could someone please tell us what this is and if it would be best to go ahead and put this guy out of his misery before these things take over his whole body. I've seen pic of deer that were wrapped up with them. Other than that I don't recollect exactly what was discussed about it. We need answers to 3 questions and will get a pic up as soon as possible. 1.) What is it? 2.) Should we go ahead and take him out (bow season starts in 3 weeks)? 3.) Is the meat safe for human consumption? (We eat 'em all around here.) Thanks, Walker dawg

The farther north you are, the earlier it happens. Whitetail Journal posts rut predictions every September and i have found them to be 100% accurate for my general area. We have a wider rut down here than you more northern folks because we have such an out-of-whack doe-to-buck ratio. There are 2 areas that I hunt that are about 15 miles apart. I might have bucks chasing and finding standing does on Nov.2 on one farm and Nov. 8th on the other farm. However, they all cycle through the general time frame of the first and second week of Nov. I hunt every day from Nov. 1-Nov. 15. Never can tell what couple of days the does at either location will be ready, so I tell anyone who wants to know the facts that if they have any vacation they can take during deer season to take it between those dates. I happen to be in a position where I cant hunt everyday, so I do. After Nov. 15th, I start killing does and stack my freezer and any freezer I can borrow some space in. Last year, I killed a buck chasing does on Nov. 2 on one farm and another on Nov. 6th chasing does on the other farm 15 miles away. However, farther up North one goes, the less out of kilter the buck-to-doe ratio is, so there is not such a big window where does are coming in season on one farm near Nov. 1 and on the other farm near Nov. 10. You guys get a lot closer to having all of your does coming in at once, so the window of opportunity is smaller. I think I remember that the prediction for your area last year was around the last week of Oct. Ours was (and always is) the first and second weeks of Nov. (full moon seems to help somewhat). In Texas, theirs is sometime in Jan. It's later in the season the further south you go and earlier the further north. Check out the rut predictions in the Sept. issue of Whitetail Journal. The guy that does them is pretty darn good at it.

I guess 16 months late is better than never...

Talk about a bad shot...I once saw a dude on a hunting show shoot at a buck as he was running by at full-tilt and put a straight-up bull's ey on his vitals. However, he was so excited that he didn't know he'd hit the deer, much less landed a vtials-shot and took a second shot on him and shot half of the left-side of his rack off. Cut the main beam clean in-half. The deer was a 140-class. It takes a lot of concentration and attention to know what is happening in the split second it happens and that taks lots of experience. This is the kind of thing that happens when hunting with inexperienced hunters. Glad no one and no vehicles were injured in the incident. My hunting buddy went on a deer dog hunt with his cousin about 10 years ago. We don't dog hunt, but this particular weekend I couldn't go so he went out with his cousin running the dogs. He jumped out of his cousins truck with a 12ga. loaded with buckshot to shoot at a 10-point and the gun hit the kick panel as he was getting out. He shot a hole through the floorboard and flattened the tire. Now that's funny right there. I don't care who you are! (But that's what happens with inexperienced hunters getting overly excited in the moment. You gotta keep an eye on them!) -
My Brother and I's Opening Weekend Bucks in Arkansas
treeinwalker replied to PineyBrake's topic in Deer Hunting
Those bucks look almost as much alike as the two guys holding them. Looks like a double-mint gum ad. Nice ones. -
I have on camera and it takes between 350 and 450 pics per week, so I know what you mean.

Thanks that would be great, especially if they are the swat boots. Any other help???
-
I used to have a pair of these Rocky 15" Swat Snake Boots. They were horrible so I sent them back. Not waterproof at all (2 pairs). At the time, I had no idea I would be writing an article on snake boots so I didn't need to take any pics. Well, now I need pics for the article and I need someone to take some closeups of the boots from front and rear and both sides. I will be using the photos on a website. Please help. Condition doesn't matter as long as they are not worn slap out. Thanks.
