I LOVE my .308!!!! I hit a stage in my life where I wanted something "fancy" and I got a .300 win..7Mag...270 wsm and I have sold ALL of them...Why mess with perfection! I shoot a 165gr federal bullets,and I've NEVER had a deer/hog take a step,and I've killed many. I bought my son a 7mm08,and I would put it at #2 on my list.I have been very impressed with it. I think those two calibers have the perfect weight/speed for whitetails in N.America...My #3 would be a 25-06.VERY accurate,and a under-rated caliber in my opinion.

is hot and heavy...I've been watching bucks chase does all week at work(at/around 1 p.m.).I've had 3 friends and family members shoot bucks this week that are chasing..Thank the Lord I get some time off so I can get in the game myself...Good luck out there this weekend!!

to you while you where in the woods?? It's close to Halloween so.... I ask this question because I am usually not easily spooked,but I a deer got me this morning...I stayed up all night watching ghost hunters,and paranormal state,and decided at the last minute to head to the stand. I get there about an hour before daylight,and ease down into the swamp bottom which was dead calm,and wet from yesterdays soaking. When I get to my tree,and start to hang my climber,I hear something that sounds fairly close.When I turned around with my light,I had two big Green eyes staring at me at about 30 yards.I knew it was a deer,but my light wasn't strong enough to pick up the entire body.Just those eyes.The crazy part was instead of running away this deer starts walking directly towards me in a quick trot,and came within 10 yards of me before it ever veered away...I saw it was a big doe,after it got close,but that 20 yards in between freaked me out a little...I was about to attempt to climb that tree backwards.. I also had some idiot on public land about 10 years ago walking around hanging crosses in the trees that he made out of 2 limbs and vines....that was a little creepy also.

I agree with the trail Cam...I've had some good luck patterning bucks with my camera. In My own personal experience I've had better luck in the evenings,but all situations are different. I'd be there as much as possible and pay close attention to scent control.

I give myself 30-45 min to get in and get situated. It all depends on if I've got to hook my climber up(public land)...how far the walk is,etc.....so butt in stand ready to go,I want things to settle down for 30-45 minutes...This usually includes my heart rate,which doesn't happen all the time because the last 2 times I've gone I've had deer under me before the sun came up. Opening day I was at the gate of some public land here in SC at 3:30..I was determined to get to MY spot before anyone else...I then decided what the heck,I'll go on in and get in the stand,and catch a little nap...when I woke up,it was perfect timing,BUT my tail was numb,and I felt like I had been hit by a truck...I'll chalk that one up to things I'll never do again.:stretcher:

A friend of mine shot a buck this weekend with the Rage 2 blade...The buck took a step as the arrow was released,and he hit him to far back. When we checked the impact location,we found his arrow covered in blood,and a lot of stomach matter. The good part was that the Rage caused so much damage that the blood trail was easily followed,and the deer was recovered at 75 yards. We all strive to make perfect shots,but as bowhunters we all know things happen...it's good to see a broadhead perform the way it is supposed too. I love this product..

I shoot a 70# Dxt with 30" draw.......The first buck I shot was slightly quartering to me at 42 yards,and I hit the front shoulder,and got a complete pass through.The deer ran/crawled 10 yards. The big hog was hit square in the shoulder,and the only thing that didn't get through was the fletchings..There are Many variables out there,but the Rage broadheads are very tough in my experience.If the deer do run,the blood trail is easily followed...

Sorry I don't have any Pics but it was getting HOT and I was rushing to get him in the cooler...He was only a big OLD cowhorn,but that's WHY I LOVE to Bowhunt. They all feel like a trophy when it's up close and personal,and you release that arrow..I'm sure I'll hunt with a gun again one day,BUT it won't be any time soon...

You will be very impressed....I have killed two bucks(one this morning) at 42 and 36 yards,and a 200 lb Hog at 37 yards,and the Rage DESTROYED all 3 of them....

Okay guys,I've heard a lot of experts over the years say that the full moon doesn't affect deer movement,but what do you think?? I have killed many deer over the years,and I can honestly say that I have zero confidence in hunting during the full moon. Opinions??

I hope this is the right forum....Have you guys ever considered doing a show from SC?? Our season comes in August 15,and there are some nice deer here in SC,and from what I hear some very good outfitters. I love what you guys do and enjoy watching deer hunting from coast to coast,but I would love to see more shows filmed in the south in conditions relevant to many of us who love Realtree. Thanks!!

I keep the FEVER about 365 days a year...Season starts August 15 here in SC,but it is SO HOT. I'm blessed that we have such a long season,but when I look at the pics from some of the deer you guys have up north, I wish I owned a few acres up there to visit every winter. We have some real nice deer/hogs around here,but to be able to hunt a 300lb deer in the snow is awesome.Good luck to everyone in finding that cure for your fever this year..
