Yesterday was a good day for hunting in VA.To start it off,I was sitting in a stand overlooking 3 big fields.I didnt see nothing in the morning. So I talk on the radio and it was around 11:00 ready to go eat lunch and everybody was leaving the woods so I ask my cousin to drive up a river. He did and I was looking all directions and turn my head to the field in front of me and a spikehead is running.I didnt take that shot but as soon as he gets somewhere i couldnt see him he stops....The wind was blowing his way so he must have smelled me and he took off bounding and I missed him with a 30/30 bolt, hard shot at a bounding deer at 150 yards with a 30/30.About 10 minutes later here comes 2 big cow does.I shoot and hit one of them bad and that one goes to live. That evening I go to sit in a huge green grass feild.About 15-20 minutes before bad shooting light I see a huge doe feeding. She saw me when I threw my scope on her.So she bounded away.Next thing I know i see a fawn doe staring at me, all I could see was her head. She starts playing around and jumpin and a carryin on.About 1 minute goes by and I turn my head and there stodd another big doe 10 freakin yards away! When I turned my head she started stomping but she couldnt quite tell what I was.So she eases in a patch of briars and honeysuckles and she eats them for about 2 minutes and every now and then she would peek through the bushes looking at me trying to pick out what I was.At that time I had my Savage Model 840 30/30 bolt action ready for her to pop out the bushes so I could give her a load.So I turn my head and to my right there stood a HUMONGOUS doe staring right at me.In my mind I said "FORGET THAT DOE SHOOT THIS ONE".So it was around 95-100 yards I shot and she almost went down but she ran into the woods and there was no blood were she was standing but I went down into the woods and ther was sh*tloads of blood. She ran into the woods about 20 yards and piled up.Forgot to take pics.Fun day though.
