I have a lock on set-up in a big white oak tree that is loaded with acorns. I have a corn field on one side of me and a cedar thicket on the other side. I have been hunting that stand off and on and i am not seeing any deer. I know that they are there because there is to much deer sign for them not to be. Does any body have any suggestions on what i should do or why you think that i am not seeing any deer from that stand location.

I was walking to my stand one morning and heard something running through the woods I thought it was just deer. Well it sound got closer and closer and thought to my self deer do not run towards you so i stopped and shined my light and noticed that there was a mama black bear and behind her was two cubs. I stared at her and she stared at me the cubs took off running the other way and shortly after so did the mama. This was during late muzzleloading season and i didn't even have a cap in the breach.

hey vtbowhunter, i have hunted the mountains of virginia all my life and i found that early muzzleloading usually the 2nd week is the best time for rut activity the 1st week of rifle is also good. but i have seen more big bucks during those weeks.

To any realtree prostaff, The state of virginia is one hard state to kill a big buck. The big bucks are around they are so hard to hunt in the mountains. i have 124 acres of farm land i hunt i have harvested 1 nice buck, and i have seen other nice bucks. the question i have is would any of the realtree prostaff be interested in hunting with me in virginia.
