  1. Today was a pretty awesome day, we headed out at 5:30 which gave us plenty of time to travel to our property. We were in our stands by 6:15 which was a tad early considering it doesn't break daylight till around 7. The rut is definetly on here in west virginia, that's a fact. After a few series of grunts from the flextone a small six point can strutn' and rutn' with a head of steam. A few days prior we placed a mock scrape with a little of Tinks dominant buck lure inside. It worked to a T, the buck came running in looking for the source of the grunt, he moved over to the scrape and actually snort wheezed! Its the first time I have ever heard one in person, boy the little fella was livid. It wasn't much longer before a couple of does broke the ridge. A spike was hot of the trail, I was almost positive I was going to get to see a fight between to the two. Talk about an adrenaline rush, the 6 point pushed the spike out of the way showing that he was the dominant buck, or so he believed. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted some movement, as bad as I want to turn to see what it was I couldn't with the amount of deer around my stand I was pinned down for the time being. Thankfully the buck was hot on the trail, he pushed the six point clean out of the picture. All seemed to work out as the 8 point moved out directly infront of me giving me a 30 yard shot. The Z7 got to play a little string music and the rage did its job without a doubt. It was the first time I had gotten to see just exactly what a rage was capable of. I had my doubts about them but rest assured all of that is in the past. When they say gaping wound channels that's exactly what they mean! I hope to be able to figure out how to pull the pics off my cell phone and post them on here tomorrow. Good luck guys.
  2. Im with you Ethan, and like the guy before said, " keep looking " its the only thing you really can do. Keep us posted on if you find him or not, hope to see some pics when you do. Keep your head up.
  3. We need some bucks like that around here in WV
  4. Thanks for all of the input guys.
  5. Anyone have the Hoyt Alphamax 35, I bought the Mathews Reezen over my leave in September, I love it. Its quiet, fast , and it just seems to be an all around good bow. But I like to always have a back up bow, you can never tell when one of your buddies is going to show up and want to go hunting. Sometimes they like to show up unprepared...Or just wanting to use your stuff lol
  6. Were looking to be home sometime around May, Just in time to start shooting to prepare for bow season. Plus the Lumberport Archery Club will be doing there shoots! Nothing but positives. Thanks everyone!
  7. Been busy running alot of missions brother but its good to hear from you as well.. How you been?
  8. I just wanted to thank all of you for your prayers for myself and all of the guys over here. Were just a couple of months away from getting out of this place and so far we have all managed to go through this deployment unharmed. We really appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers. Your friend, Kenny
  9. Decided to slip on in and see what all has been going on in the world of Realtree. Everything is well over here, I just wanted to make sure I could slip in long enough to wish everyone a Merry Christmas... I hope everyone has a good time! Kenny
