Well my bud and I just got back from two and a half weeks of solid hunting.After nine years of trying to draw a 5B South early archery tag we got lucky this year. The bulls didn't do a lot of talking and to try and call one in just didn't happen. We had cameras up for three months showing some good size bulls coming in to water so we thought that would be the way to go. I am a spot and stalk kind of hunter so to sit on water for the first week of the hunt killed me especially when the only elk that I had seen all week were two spikes. I have no idea were the big boys went to.The second week of the hunt found me walking miles and miles with nothing calling or showing. So I went back sitting on water on the morning of day ten of the hunt sitting in a stand a coyote came in and that was the first coyote kill with my bow a 20 yard shot. At 5:30 in the afternoon this 5x5 came in and gave me a 15 yard shot and I said OK I'll take you. When I hit him he ran into a tree and you can see he broke some of his bone on the right side, but I found it so should be able to be repaired.I know there are bigger out there but at least I came back with something my buddy came back tag in hand. I hope it doesn't take another nine years to draw another tag...
