My 12 year old son shot his first deer with a bow. It came in at about 15 yards looking straight at him. It turned and started to take off when he let the arrow fly. He watched it drop from his tree stand about 60 yards away. I was surpised because his shot was back and a little high as you can see. He must of hit a main artery. Nothing better than seeing your kid have success.

The bucks are chasing does now, I live in NW Kansas. This week traveling on the highways saw two different bucks chasing does, they didn't even pay attention to any traffic. Wednesday went out and rattled in a decent whitetail, then moved to a different spot and bleated in a nice muley. My son and I will be in a tree stand today.

I have hunted pheasants and quail for over 20 years and never use anything bigger than 4 shot. If you are hunting both pheasants and quail I would use 6 shot. It is big enough for pheasants and not too big for quail as long as you don't have any close shots.

Nope, I have never worn scent proof clothing. Just hang my clothes in cedar trees for a couple days and use silver xp spray.

I use muzzy buzzcut, it seems to get the job done.

This guy followed 3 other bucks down the creek trail. He was the biggest of the three. Shot him at 15 yards. The arrow actually broke off halfway in him. Awesome blood trail, he fell about 40 yards away.

Has anyone used peanut butter or salt for a deer attractant?
