This for a 200 gr bullet, figuring approx. 2100 fps muzzle velocity and a BS of .141. I'm not sure how it would work in you gun, but I put a PR Dead Center .40 cal., 240 gr., shooting 100 gr 777, through a doe this morning at 175 yds. The doe went about 20 yds and piled up. I took the hide off when I got her home and was pretty impressed at the damage that bullet did. Took out both lungs and smashed through the opposite shoulder.

Seems there has been a few jerks come on the forums and try to screw things up. The mods and admin are doing a great job of cleaning things up and getting rid of them. Thanks.

I have the Traditions Pursuit XLT and mine shoots best with 100 grs 777loose powder. I also shoot a 240 gr Dead Center. I probably put 200 rounds through it this past summer and tried pellets. about 8 different bullets and all sorts of different loads. I tried 3 50 gr 777 pellets with several bullets. Besides killing my shoulder, I didn't get the groups I get with 100. That is MY gun. Yours may be different, but you have to try a lot of loads. I personally don't think 150 grs is necessary, but some guns shoot it well. Also, I had the same questions when I bought my gun, so I weighed 150 grs of 777 measured by volume and it came out to roughly 130 grs by weight. Also 3 pellets weight in at around 135 grs by weight. I was always under the impression that you should use 15% less 777 than pyrodex or BP.

I believe "open carry" is "legal everywhere due to the second amendment. I know in Ohio, it is legal to open carry a firearm. In the town I live, there used to be a day every year, can't remember what day, a whole bunch of people would walk through downtown with a sidearm. The law has become increasingly creative though, and will often times arrest someone for disturbing the peace, inciting panic, or being a public nuisance. If you even look like you're going to remove your weapon from your holster, they can also get you for brandishing. Concealed carry is a lot easier 'cause no one knows.

You also have to understand that when you and I pay off our balances each month like we do, the banks don't make any money off us. They make their best money on people that run up balances, then pay the minimum payment each month. I personally have only one credit card that I use for emergencies ONLY, and it hasn't been used in a while. I have heard some not really good things about GE Money also.

I haven't used a scope with the ballistic reticles mainly because I don't use 150 gr of powder and a 250 gr bullet. There are so many more better loads for my gun that I can't belive they would work for me. The only way I have heard they are helpful is if you match each aimpoint for the distance it actually shoots in you gun with your best load.

It's like buying a new pair of bluejeans. One size does not fit all. You got to try some on to find which one feels best.

Only seen a fork horn so far during archery season. Movement has been little to non existant the last week or so. I did see a pretty nice 8 point at Salt Fork during the early muzzleloader, but he was going about 400 mph.

I rarely have the chance to be out all day, but when I can I usually take a break sometime during the day. Just can't sit in a stand all day like I used to.

Hey bearman! Welcome to the forums. From what you described, it sounds like you have a Smith & Wesson .38 Hand Ejector Model of 1901. Not 100% sure on this. If that is what you have, it is chanbered for the .38 special or the .38 Long Colt cartridge. These were used in military service sidearms during that period. It is not for use with the shorter .38 S&W round. At the time, both the .38 special and the Long Colt were loader with black powder and the cylinders were not heat treated, so be careful with what you shoot in it. You can get cowboy rounds that are loeaded with black powder. I don't get to see awhole lot of different animals like bear, moose , elk etc., just the common stuff. Aside from the normal deer fights, coyotes, fox and such, I had a Great Horned Owl land on a tree branch not 10 feet from, then swoop down and pick up a mouse in the brush under my tree. The funniest thing I ever saw was the daughter of the landowner and her boyfriend.....well you get the picture. Funny things was, she knew I was in the woods that day 'cause she walked right by my truck parked in the lane.
