  1. Under an inch @ 100y- 115 grains (volume) Blackhorn 209, Fed 209A, 300gr Shockwave with the supplied black sabot. If the gun is new, make sure you really scrub out the protective coating TC puts in the bore. Have fun
  2. The sabot would likely fail at anything approaching 2900 fps. You are probably around 2200 fps, only a chronograph will tell you the truth.
  3. 300gr Shockwave w/black sabot, Fed 209A primer, 115gr Blackhorn 209. I haven't shot at any fur or experimented with loads much. I started hunting the day after I after stumbled on that load and will leave well enough alone til spring. Consensus on the 'net seems to be T/C's need to be broken in by shooting or some JB Bore Paste, BH 209 likes tight bore to sabot fit, and magnum 209 primers improve consistency. Good Luck
  4. I like the idea, especially for removing the charge at the end of the day, it might work there are some concerns... IMHO, What would you use as a blank? a 45-70 case gives about 70gr (volume) of course you could go 45-90, 50-70, 50-90 50-110 or something trimmed between. To avoid detonation, the bullet needs to be seated atop the powder without an airspace, thus some sort of wadding would be required to keep it all "solid". This may limit options for reduced power loads. Finally, if cartridge of similar bore size could be seated in the breech, you'll have a hard time convincing the AHJ (authority having jurisdiction) that the rifle isn't a breech loader. If you don't have the dexterity to load a 209 primer you could try one of the 25acp conversions. Just my $0.02 Jim
  5. I'm a total greenhorn when comes to ML shooting. I had similar results with my new Triumph shooting 250gr shockwaves w/ez-glide sabots, and 777. I "lapped" barrel with JB and loaded 300 grain Shockwaves with the black sabots, 115grains of BH209, and Federal 209A primer. I'm not certain if it was the JB(bore is still "tight", smoother I think) the Blackhorn 209, the heavier bullets, or the black sabots... I don't care, I shot 2, 3/4" groups @ 100yds that'll get me through hunting season.
