  1. All good stuff. Take it from someone who has learned the hard way!
  2. It's the most helpless feeling. Sorry about that!
  3. How did you do WS? Did you find your buck?
  4. I would score that one as YES!!!!! Congrats!!
  5. You did the right thing because the shot was kind of high and a bit back. The rain won't help with the tracking but if you hit liver and he hasn't expired then you risk pushing him. He should be near where you last heard him unless the coyotes or something pushes him.
  6. About 15 minutes before quitting time tonight a big buck came over a ridge behind me and heading in my direction. When I turned to look, he must have caught movement and immediately stopped about 65-70 yards away. I didn't so much as blink for the next 1-1/2 to 2 minutes as he stared at me. Finally he started walking again but instead of coming towards my stand he kinda skirted it by staying well out of range. I grunted a couple of times more out of desperation and frustration than anything but of course he was having none of it. He never did the head bob and never stomped, blew, or raised his tail. He just slowly and quietly disappeared, so I'm thinking that I didn't jack it up too bad. I dont think this big boy is coming within bow range of that stand for awhile so now I'm thinking of setting up with my climber downwind of the route he was taking tonight. What do you guys think?
  7. Congrats on the buck..Nicely done!!
  8. There are monsters then there are monsters. WOW!! Thanks for sharing the story about getting to know and finally harvesting this deer!
  9. Still LMAO! Come on guys, we have a few big ones around here. One thing for sure, you will make the paper with a deer like that!
  10. I made a single lung shot on a buck 2 years ago (broadside at a steep angle, not the shot that you took). I didn't track until the next morning and we still never found that deer. I was asking the same question about the possibility of the deer surviving. After reading every article I could about wounded deer I learned that it is possible (but not common) for a deer to survive a single lung hit depending on the severity and amount of blood loss. I think in my case the deer was pushed off of the property by a predator, not sure about your situation. I applaud you for the effort in trying to locate the deer.
  11. Good Morning, new guy here and thought I would ask for some advice. This past Saturday I had 3 young bears come into a clearing near my stand. This was about a half hour before dark and 2 of them started wrestling about 40 yards away. Anyway, I figured mother bear was around somewhere so I just sat tight and enjoyed the show (admittedly a little nervous). After about 10 minutes they ran off to the south and a large bear (which I'm assuming was mama) chased after them. It was pretty cool I guess but not quite the encounter I was hoping for and it was the first time I had ever seen a bear in the wild. My question is what should I take from this experience and what do I need to know going further? I'm not thrilled with having bears coming into my bowhunting setup.
