  1. can you post some pics from the cameras? Thanks
  2. Besides playing the wind what is the best scent control method and type of product that you would reccomend? I've used scent killer on my clothing and really don't know what is best. Sometimes when at a stand the wind can be just right and I'll get blown at by deer that I can't even see. What could I possibly be doing wrong. The reason I'm asking so much is I've seen really nice bucks early in the year on trail camera and then come time to bow hunt the bucks are out in the dark of the morning or at low light at night. Could you share some of your wisdom and knowledge on these two areas. It's great hearing it from a pro hunter. Thanks,ROBINHOOD 2010
  3. Is it ok to clean up a trail that the deer use as a travel route there seems to be more growth by the time bow season starts? What I mean by that. The area of woods is so thick with briars and broken limbs on the trail that I use to get from point a & b. I would like to take a weedeater to the trail just one time this month. Spray some round up and clear the trail to eliminate noise and scent trails from myself. Is that going overboard? This area is about the only clear spot to travel.
  4. When setting up off of the soybean or a travel route how close do you like to get when hunting with bow in October? Would you consider using a blind or just tree stand only? Don't mean to ask so many questions but what type of calls or scents would you use for the early bow season? The deer have no pressure in this area for it is private and a lot of farm land with horses on the west end of the property and cattle on the east end. They seem to bed by the creek close to water and the trails are the same every year. Thanks a million for any tips or advice you can give. Hope you take a record buck this 2010 season. Good luck to you and all of your staff.
  5. I love this website. there is never a dull moment. My question to you veteran hunters is. This is the first year in about 6 years that they planted soybean instead of corn. Can you share any tips or advice on hunting the area. There is a 5 acre patch of woods on the southwest corner off the field. Deer travel the south end of the soybean field and bed on the edge early in the morning. Also there is a creek that runs east and west 70 yrds south of the soybeans. It's like they funnel down to this corner of my woods.I just want to do things right and i hope you can help a fellow bow hunter out. Thanks
  6. Found my first shed ever on Monday. Left side of a nice 8 pt. Looked a good while for the other and no luck. I might scout again this weekend to see what luck can bring. It is cool how you see so much sign of where the deer travel this time of year. Some people claim that deer change routes ,but the area i hunt they seem to stay the same.
  7. Sheds Thanks for all the help. You folks are the best.I think I will start lokking this weekend. Good luck to you all. ROBINHOOD 2010
  8. Thanks for the tips. I'll let you know how thing turn out. We have about 13" of snow as of Feb. When should they start to drop for this area. Thanks,ROBINHOOD 2010
  9. This will be my first time ever looking for sheds. I live in southern Indiana. The nearest place for me to start looking would be Camp Attabury public side or Yellowwood State Forest could you folks share some of your wisdom as to when they should be dropping for this area? Where should I start? :bummed: Thanks,ROBINHOOD 2010
  10. I hunt more of archery season than any other time of the season because of pressure. The area that I hunt is in johnson county in Indiana. I'm pretty sure that most of the area as decribed earlier in my first post must be a bedding area on the southwest end of the cornfield. It really has been hit or miss and I know there are some nice deer on the property. What can I do to cause them to pass by the area more often in the spring when food is scarce? How close can you set a stand off of a trail and get away with it? Our hunting season is over on January 3rd. Have a happy new year ROBINHOOD2010
  11. I'd like to start out by saying what an awsome wedsite. I have been blessed with a place to hunt just across the creek 600 yrds. from my back door. On the north side of the creek is nothing but thick briars and a small swampy area. Just north of the woods is corn for as far as you can see and a fence line that runs at the edge of the west end of the corn. I have a good idea where the deer travel and there enter and exit routes. I also see where the deer go for water. My question is where should i try to set up at and what time of the season is best to hunt corn fields? Thanks for any tips or advice. ROBINHOOD2010
