Anybody have any wagers on the season?
Limbhanger replied to Bowtech_archer07's topic in Turkey Hunting
I will wager many will have a tough season hearing gobbling birds? Not tough that you still can't kill them, but tough as in those who enjoy hearing them.Over the years atleast around here in parts of PA that get good pressure, this seems to be the trend. Every year the gobbling just seems to really drop off as compared to previous years. The coulprits, way too many hens, and a lot of pressure. I look for this trend to continue as turkey hunting keeps gaining popularity, with people constantly messing with birds. And the hen population seems to continue to grow, as most do not pursue hens like they do Gobblers. -
I always pass on jakes as they are easy to verify with small beards and uneven fans. But in my opinion,If it's a longbeard it's down regardless it's age. I'm just not that good to see their spurs, as this is the true indication of age. I've seen mature 3-4 year olds with 8-9in beards, and 2 year olds with 10in. plus beards. So in general 8 in. beard or better I'm shooting.

Haven't had a chance to get out and listen here. We still have over a foot of snow on the ground. So it would probably be a waste of time right now, as the Toms have nothing to really gobble about?

Same here, we do not start until May either in Pa, I always though this was late as compared to others.

Like they say "hit em high watch em die" "hit em low watch em go"

What's everyones favorite mouthcall? I'm getting tired of spending cash on mouthcalls I do not care for. Everyone post their favorites as a guide to buying new mouthcalls. 1. Primos True Double 2. Quaker Boy Raspy Checkmate 3. Pittmans Black Diamond

The bigger the cutting diameter the better.

I use mouthcalls most of the time, but in a pinch my go to call is an aluminum call.

Here in PA, everyone has a tag for one Spring bearded bird, and must purchase a second Spring tag if you want it. Our season starts around the 1st of May this year and lasts 4 weeks. Major complaint here, always get a late start. I go right over the border in Ohio, and their season starts 2 weeks earlier.

Titanium is a precious metal, but for 90.00 a 3 pack, it's not that precious.

As friends we like to share, although have learned my lesson a few times, keep it to yourself.

Everything you hear about the Slicktricks is good, I personally like the T-Shuttles, my opinion can't go wrong with either.

Probably some good Predator camo, Buckskins or the woolen?

Nice find, my guess is they are the same deer also.
