  1. I heard about this all the way in Fairbanks Ak... so sorry to hear in the first place... i guess i can't understand with all the deer down there why one would have to resort to these extremes... has it gotten that hard to hunt that a person needs to poach?
  2. thanks for the compliment on the bou... sorry it took so long to get back again.. but am in the middle of regulatory year stuff with the board of game and fish... as well participating in the management plan for a few of our caribou herds up here... and the holiday season... well it is busy as an interlock provider... anyway. I took kiddos Bou over to be scored for Boone and Crocket... and she received a Gross score of 403 and 3/8 and a net score of 383 6/8 ... though she did not make the all time book it made the awards book with a 375 minimum net. it was really cool as this was the first time i have ever measured anything and the process was very detailed and enlightening. the mount i am having done should also be worthy of the fine animal he was. (also a first for me) not sure i am going to get to that archery tag or not... time is waning for me quickly. it ends the 27 of this month and day light is short these days in a hurry... currently -6 and i really don't need another moose to deal with LOL... but i am sorta planning my first Deer hunt ever. May head after some sitka black tail down in the Prince william sound area out of Cordova Ak... when i head down there next month for work... well see if it can pan out or not... Weather is a big factor in the winter for heading out to the islands for deer...
  3. i have to agree,,, made all my kids read it and read it good.... have a good holiday all.. Vince
  4. THE RULES FOR A SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN. 1. When it appears that you have killed the monster, NEVER check to see if it's really dead. 2. Never read a book of demon summoning aloud, even as a joke. 3. Do not search the basement, especially if the power has gone out. 4. If your children speak to you in Latin or any other language which they should not know, shoot them immediately. It will save you a lot of grief in the long run. However, it will probably take several rounds to kill them, so be prepared. This also applies to kids who speak with somebody else's voice. 5. When you have the benefit of numbers, NEVER pair off and go it alone. 6. As a general rule, don't solve puzzles that open portals to ****. 7. Never stand in, on, or above a grave, tomb, or crypt. This would apply to any other house of the dead as well. 8. If you're searching for something which caused a loud noise and find out that it's just the cat, GET THE **** OUT! 9. If appliances start operating by themselves, do not check for short circuits; just get out! 10. Do not take ANYTHING from the dead. 11. If you find a town which looks deserted, there's probably a good reason for it. Don't stop and look around! 12. Don't fool with recombinant DNA technology unless you're sure you know what you're doing. And even if you're sure you know what you're doing, just don't fool with it! 13. If you're running from the monster, expect to trip or fall down at least twice. Also note that, despite the fact that you are running and the monster is merely shambling along, it's still moving fast enough to catch up with you. 14. If your companions suddenly begin to exhibit uncharacteristic behavior such as hissing, fascination for blood, glowing eyes, increasing hairiness, and so on, kill them immediately. 15. Stay away from certain geographical locations, some of which are listed here: Amityville, Elm Street, Transylvania, Nilbog you're in trouble if you recognize this one), the Bermuda Triangle, or any small town in Maine. 16. If your car runs out of gas at night on a lonely road, do not go to the nearby deserted looking house to phone for help. If you think that it is strange because you thought you had half of a tank, shoot yourself instead. You are going to die anyway, and most likely be eaten. 17. If you find that your house is built upon a cemetery, now is the time to move in with the in-laws. This applies to houses that had previous inhabitants who went mad or died in some horrible fashion, or had inhabitants who performed satanic practices in your house.
  5. I Guess i should add... that the Benefit of taking my kids and old folks out hunting.. is that YOU KNOW WHO... does all of the cutting, gutting, and packing.. one moose hind quarter is about the size of a mature white tail deer field dressed. ~125-150 lbs. my daughters caribou boned out to 200 lbs of meat and the smaller ones last week come in about 150 lbs field dressed. helping out the others.. i never knew i had so many hunter friends that had NEVER done it before. all of our meat was processed at HOME, and this year we benefited 7 other families with donations of clean game meat. on top of the Halibut, ling cod, sockeye and coho salmon this year... We are EATING SOME good...
  6. Sorry not a lot of extra time for being here the last few months, it has been a rock star year of hunting, Board of Game meetings, Legislative action for our business, and work in General... so here are some photos to look over. in short we have filled 5 of the 6 draw tags this year and a special subsistence caribou harvest we were awarded late this fall.. My oldest Daughter filled her caribou tag with a monumental hunt that entailed passing Dall sheep on the way up a mountain to her bull only to have it fall down a 500 foot ravine with only one way in ( the TOP) and one way out (the BOTTOM) the album can be seen on my face book page. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=30052&id=100000477065010&l=683703ccbb but here is a peak. our two 12 year olds each bagged a cow moose this fall. Ian and Natalie ( hers was 50 foot out side the front door) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=32047&id=100000477065010&l=f23acc4cee My 69 year old partner also bagged his first moose this year, also a cow on our mining claim 300 yards from where Ian got his the week before... ( album>>) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=43109&id=100000477065010&l=c14497df43 and this last weekend... we drew a nelchina caribou tag in that i filled my tag and assisted in the harvest and recovery of 4 others with some good friends and one i made on the hunt... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=46046&id=100000477065010&l=d280c91938 take a look at all the photos... and enjoy them. i still have an archery moose tag to fill this season. and now that it is beginning to snow i will have to get after it. so far i only have 52 days afield since August 24... LOL much to the wifes dismay... and time to start planning next years.. if your interested in applying for and Alaska draw tag the winter draw supplement is out on the ADFG web site http://www.wildlife.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=permits.hunting
  7. yup he's huge..... Prolly because he lives on the nuke site, prolly has 6 toes on each foot too... and is really a camel
  8. once again i am disapointed that nobody put my name in the draw for me.... :angel2:
  9. Mathews mission bows. the mennace is a good start bow that will adjust draw and lbs as you grow. we own two of them now along with a bowtech dimond... the dimond needs new limbs as you grow... and has turned into a PITA to get done...
  10. vanes???????????? FOB"S (fletching only better) you want accuracy range and lazer beams on a windy day... FOBs are the only thing to fly;) www.starrflight.com
  11. and they said it would not grow up here... this is my second plot i have gotten to take now... but man it takes a lot of seed... nearly 15 lbs per acer to get it to take and hold. huge thunder showers coupled with extrodanary heat this spring i almost thought it was a $149.00 seed bust... we have heavy clay and peat for soil, the perma frost did not leave the ground until the second week of june and the ground set up rock hard... cabelias almost refused to ship it to me.... but i have now nearly an acre of spots ( slowly filling in )of green about 6 inches high right out my front door.... you may ask.... as i have no deer why would i plant it? moose love it... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D soon as the camera drys:bang: out again from our last trip...i will take a pic or two... but i do have a question.. how long should i wait to mow it once?
  12. In alaska( as most states) it must have an Engine to get DWI/DUI... horses don't count and since i can't plug a breathalizer into or under the tail of a horse i don't think they will keep you from riding one;)
  13. This isn't even that partisan - everyone should watch. Recently Obama announced that over the next 90-days he is going to work to cut 100-Million dollars of spending out of the Federal Budget. A college student explains Obamanomics. VERY well done! > http://www.wimp.com/budgetcuts/
  14. not only NO but **** no!!!!... new years for us... July 4th is first off to light out... secondly... i don't need a 42,000,000.00 bill for starting a forest fire... but at -40 in jan... i can shoot all i want in the dark of winter with a white back drop... in the trees over the trees on the house, at the kids, at the wife, the dog too.. in fact i can shoot them at the landlord in Jan. moose don't like it though.. they are already cranky enough...
  15. don't know about down south. but i know several lady guides here in Ak that realllllllllly know their stuff..
