  1. I know that this has probly been asked before but I didn't see it anywhere else. So my question is this, does anyone have a template or instructions as to how to make a scratch box call? This is my second year turkey hunting and the first year of trying to use any type of calls. Last year was a bust so I thought that maybe I need to get and try some calls. The problem being, and I am sure that I am not alone here, is that I can't afford to pay for them. With that being said, can you help me out here with some how to's and material list's?:smoke::bummed:

Anyone here ever eat the "beefsteak" mushrooms? I have heard that they are poisonous, that the bugs in them are poisonous and etc. etc. etc. But I have also heard that some people do eat them. Any help is appreciated, thanks Mike.
  3. Congrats and good luck! Only 25 more days til my season starts. Can't wait!
  4. No Kidding! The only time I get out of the vehicle on state land around here is during the late spring and summer. Other than that I just drive around during deer season to see how others are doing. The "implants" and city folk (the ones that really don't know the difference between game and people, or they just shoot first and ask questions later) just plain freak me out. No offense to those of you that are stuck in the urban side but really know what you are doing. But I feel it is safer not to assume, ya know?
  5. not only the idea is crazy apparently, lol
  6. What's really sad about the fighting is that for some reason the teachers these days think that a little fist fight is something so horibly bad that they kick kids out of school for it and then take away all the stuff that teaches them the real morals of life like who we have to be thankful to, not to mention the pledge of allegience. Their is actually kids that do not participate during the pledge of allegience because of their parents religious beliefs. What exactly does the pledge of allegience have to do with religion? It is about honoring one's country, and in my opinion if you don't like this country or the things we can and can not do here then the plane, boat or whatever other mode of transportation that brought you here will go back to where ever it is that you came from and you can just as easily go there and not like us without us having to hear you do it! sorry for ranting its just my very honest opinion!
  7. Thanks Tim, Good luck with the Thunder Chickens this spring. I will be at 'em come the last week of April.
  8. Wobbly you are one of the luckiest guys I know! Most of... err ALL of those things sound like they are worth waiting for! Not much of a chance I will ever be waiting for that. Good luck. Take pics:camera:
  9. No kidding! I have been to Iraq twice and I won't leave my kids for any length of time ever again (well until they grow up and move out anyways). Although it would be an awesome experience to be a "professional" hunter it just would not be worth the time away from the family. How exactly do non-tv type pro-staffers become pro-staffers that just hunt close to home? I mean do they just send in pic's of themselves hunting while wearing RealTree camo preferably holding a trophy by the "horns"? It would be kinda nice to not have the camo expense to help buy other hunting equipment occasionaly but if it required trophy quality proof year in and year out there wouldn't be very many pro-staffers (as i'm sure there isn't) in my neck of the woods. Sorry to drag that out so long but I am just wondering, Thanks HardWayMike.
