  1. Wow! Congrats! As far as I'm concerned, a real retirement is the true American dream. I hope to get there some day, in fact I'm working hard at it.
  2. Well, most of my gear is cleaned and put away, needed repairs noted and the feezer ... empty. lol! I did manage to shoot a Turkey opening day of archery season 10/3. I also had a Bobcat come out earlier that morning. But that was the only action I had from the Treestand ..... Not for the lack of trying thats for sure. Thanks to my wife for letting me spend so much time in the woods! Iol. I noticed a lot more pressure from other hunters this year, I had had a couple guys on camera and saw them in person as well. That educated the deer without a doubt. I also found 2 rubs and scrapes nearby and put a camera on it but never got anything. I was able to figure out their hiding spots late in the season and came within range several times, but never was able to get a clear shot. I had 6 does meander 25 yds in front of me during rifle season. But no headgear. Looking forward to next year.
  3. Man, it's been warm! 50's the last week or so and not much cooler prior to that. No ice or snow whatsoever, not even the swamps or small ponds are frozen. In fact we had one snow shower in Oct so for .... thats it. This time last year we had 2' on the ground and were cutting holes in 8"+ of ice while grilling fresh backstrap ... this year I struck out during deer season just to make matters more depressing. lol!

What a beauty! Great looking mount...
  5. 20, 30, 40, 50 yds ... came set up like that, no need to change anything yet. I've practiced out to 40yds ... not comfortable taking a shot beyond that. My Parker claims 320fps (IIRC) I've udes the 1st dot for 10 and 20 yds without an issue..... Also experienced negligible difference between field points and practice broadheads.
  6. Personally , a good recap post with some photos is enjoyable IMO.
  7. Best wishes to your family Vicky.
  8. Way to go Shaun and Kayla and Emma! Congrats to you guys! Beautiful family.
  9. Same here, scrapped the desktop last year.

  11. Protesters ... really. What a joke, please keep us posted on how it goes. Boy howdy, I don't miss it down there.
  12. Just drove past the Rod & Gun Club yesterday ... big sign out, I especially appreciated the sign that read "GUNS AND AMMUNITION PROVIDE" ...lol!
  13. Well ..... I got the stand up no sweat, I wound up moving it a week later. Got some more seed down, it's been really dry here lately but it came up nice and green. I got a couple does on the cameras, a fawn as well. I put another camera on a friends property, I got permission to hunt there as well this year ... 100+ acres, wooded with big field. 2 big oak trees. Also just found out the local Bowshop is closing, picked up a couple 20" bolts and new broadheads. I gotta find a new shop I guess .....

  15. I stand with Rand! 86% Ben Carson 70% Marco Rubio 70%
  16. I have a work day planned this Sun, going to pull the cards from my 2 cameras, rake and reseed the food plot ... its a small patch just to get them to linger in front of the camera and treestand, and putting my new ladder stand up. I was at Wallyworld and noticed a 16' ladderstand with shooting rail for $66! Turns out it was mis-priced but they gave it to me anyway! I love a good deal! lol
  17. It was 46°F when I fot up this morning. lol!

One thing thats is really popular here are local Farmers Markets. There are 3 or 4 great ones close by, the "localvore" movement is booming. We get tons of local produce and support local growers at the same time. The markets themselves are quite the scene ... live music, fresh baked goods, hot coffee. We usually go for breakfst as often as we can.

Been a wet and cool Summer so far here .... I keep 2 veggie patches and they are both off to a very slow start. Only the past few days have been warm ... don't think we've hit 90 at all yet. Haven't even gotten a pea yet, and something chewed the beans right down to the stem. Grrrrr. I plant tomatoes in the front yard, they get full sun there, they are finally looking good! I like to keep it simple, and relatively small. Usually grow a couple varieties of tomatoes, cukes, peas, string beans, carrots and some lettuce. It's amazing how much we can get from 2 small patches! The kids really get a kick out of it.
  20. Hello Tim! I agree with your assessment on the weather! It's been a cool and wet Summer so far, only the last few days have been warm here in VT. Got a small food plot in and a couple cameras out, just a couples does hanging around so far ... and a Bobcat. Suppose I'll start target practice soon. I was wondering about your take on the Dannemora escape? Quite the story!! Have a good one.
  21. Anyone ever hear of them? Seem to be based in MN and fairly recently opened a few stores in Northern NY and now near me in Claremont NH. I've stopped in a couple times and all I can say is WOW! Strikes me as a Home Depot/Dicks/ Tractor Supply. They carry a lot of ammo and had .223 on sale. They never got a shipment but happily offered a raincheck ... I got 10 boxes worth. Good selection and friendly people so far!
  22. Rand Paul will beat her.
  23. We got about 4" of snow last night, and none of it melted today. Some rain tomorrow though. My boy and I went out last weekend shed hunting, I was calling to a gobble while standing in knee deep snow!
