Well you lowered your speed...and only shooting to 40 yards..Im going to say your shooting a hunter class..am I rite? Ok like the others said you will see more difference at longer yards.. At 40 yards there will be a bigger difference. If you misjudge a target by 4 yards and your bow is 16 fps off it will make for a 0 score on that target. and if its a bigger target its easyer to miss the yardage by more. Like a big deer at 40 yards could look like a smaller deer at 30 yards. More points off the score card. Make sure to test the longer yards!!!!!!! Matt
  5. Your lucky for sure!!! One thing to look at for the -06 is any sporting goods store you walk in to will have some kind of ammo for it in stock, no matter where you are!! I would bet th e-06 has more game under it's belt than most any other cal. out there. Matt
  6. Its a used gun.Your not a dealer are you? Then you can set your mark. Used guns in my area are bringing up there with new ones. Cause if it comes out of the trader paper Uncle sam dont know its yours!! Matt
  7. Hey just I like to see someone use something other than a 12 ga. to kill squirrel.. There's nothing like sitting out there and plinking one in the head at 50 yards or more, and you dont mess up the meat!!! Matt
  8. Yep... last time the Game warden told me to turn the light off and put down the gun!! JJ Yes I have shed a tear! And it wasnt from the hand cuffs. Matt
  9. I had a 7mm08 and was very happy with it. Like the others say "There is something about the round that puts them down fast" I think faster than the 270, I also like the 270. I have 2 A-bolts, I wanted a X-bolt but got tired of waiting. My fav. is the old Winchester M 70. I have a new A-bolt SS hunter 300wsm and didnt even get it out this year. I had a model seven and the triger was about 6 lbs to much. Matt
  10. I dont know what they call the stuff but there is a spray you wipe the mount with so often that works very well for this, and it keeps the mount looking fresh and clean. I will find out and post back soon. Maybe someone else will know before I get back. Matt
  11. Did my 1st Co. elk hunt this year. With a bow.. Well we were not trophy hunting. We were just hunting and any elk would have been a trophey for us. We came home with no elk!! It aint like it looks on TV!! However this was a plublic hunt with no guides. We learned alot and cant wait to go back this year. Something to look in too is the area you go to, the pine beatle has killed alot of trees. Find out about the area your wanting to go to..I think this has alot to do with the elk!! It did in the area we went to. Matt
