    One week.

Well only one week til my first bear hunt.Getting kind of excited.Leave the 22nd,10 hour drive up north.2 days to find the right spot and bait.going to be tuff, hunting public land and only having a week but still cant wait!!!!!!Then i get to come home to start hunting deer.going to be a good year.(knock on wood)
  2. If it were me I would set up about 20 to 30 yards away from the rubs.Wind will be a big factor on which side to set up on.Plus if you can set up right on the field then you might be able to see right where he comes from or goes to.That will also help set up on whatever deer is doing the rubs.Even when your in your stand hunting you should still be scouting.

    deer down

Well done!!!!Sounds like you had fun.
  4. Ask yourself whats different or what might be.Food source, amount of water and cover.Things that might drive the deer to other places.Trail cam it and i say hunt it the way you always hunt that area.Just cause they are not there now does not they wont be.
  5. i will agree with everyone else 130s to 140s.Hes a shooter here in michigan.
  6. Thanks for all the info guys. Next question is with 5 weeks before I go is it to early to start my bait mix??or should I go ahead and start it?
  7. I grew up hunting from the ground and like everyone else. Its all about cover. Cover in front on the sides and even behind you. Keep movment slow and don't have to much. Eye level with a deer is not an easy task. Good luck.
  8. Thanks for the info. Sounds like I should go with what's proven. Hopfully ill be able to let you guys know how the hunt went with some pictures of me next to a bear.
  9. Just. Wondering if I should go with fixed or mechs. I usually use 100 grain. Rage or grim reaper for deer. But some people say don't trust mechs on a bear. Thanks. 1 month before my hunt. Can't wait much longer!!!!!!!
  10. Got it.Thick cover near water. Thanks for all the help fellas!!!!!Few more things to buy and then the waiting game.
  11. Thanks for the info and looks like i will be trying the honey burner setup.Another question that i got is what kind of cover should i be looking to hunt??Should i try to set up in real dense, thick woods or a spot a little more open??Thanks again.
