  1. Here are a few sheds we have picked up so far this year. Still a few weeks left of good shedding before green up so we're hoping for more to come.

    What say ye?

Doesn't look like a fully mature buck, but he is a great buck already and will likely only get bigger. Keep your ear to the ground and track that deer down this summer/fall! He is awesome, good luck.
  3. Great looking buck! I love those tall, narrow bucks. He is a beauty, best of luck catching up to him next year.
  4. Good stuff, let us know how you make out.
  5. Good stuff, we have a lot of wolves up here and they need to be hunted occasionally to keep a healthy respect and fear of people and their livestock. A fearless wolf is a bad wolf, but a fearful wolf can live side by side with man and help keep the wild populations healthy, provided there aren't too many that they cause pop's to crash, IMO.
  6. Very cool set of pics tellling the story of the season. looks like a good one, some awesome deer there, and looks like the freezer is full! Thanks for sharing.
  7. Good stuff, I know what you mean. Cant wait for the snow to melt out here so I can get out shedding and prepping the food plots!
  8. Wow, very nice, you should have some points in the bank for awhile now
  9. This is one of the latest springs we have had in awhile, snow in the forest up here is still just about up to my waist, havent had a single day above freezing yet, and yesterday morning it was -30C (-22F)...brutal, our deer herd is taking a beating
  10. Great find, I have only ever found one hanger
  11. Wow, very cool, and very rare! The North American Shed Hunting Club has a seperate category for these, they call them "matched solid plate" sheds. there are only 2 entries in the world, and the world record nets 128 7/8. This is according to the 4th edition of the record book (2008). Great find!
  12. Beauty matched set, its always a great feeling to find the match, and a tough thing to do. Congrats
  13. Looks like your having a great shed hunting season, love the piebald deer to. Great photos!
  14. I like them displayed, you can see the antler much better IMO
  15. Great looking sheds. Things dont always go our way, but at least someone found them so you know there is a great deer living in the area.
  16. Nice, looks like a good time. great job

    Snow?

We still have over 3' of snow and it was -40 again this morning. Went out shedding yesterday and snow is up to my waist in alot of spots. Deer are having a real tough time, I am hoping for things to warm up and an early spring.
  18. Our deer season is over Dec.6...it is a long wait. But Dec.7 is the first day of scouting and shedding season, and then there is ice fishing season, then varmint season and serious shedding season, then ice fishing season, then open water fishing, then elk, moose and finally deer season again....ahhh, life is good, lol.
  19. Congrats on an amazing day shedding. Sure is great when the day turns out like that...doesnt happen to often.
  20. I would say generally about 1 set per 10 finds, but it can depend on the year. Some years there are sets everywhere, and some years hardly any. Up here, I think in the years where there are big storms that keep the deer in their beds for days (at the time they are dropping), then there are lots of sets. If weather is nice and deer are moving, sets are uncommon.

    sheds

We've picked up about a dozen, mostly in areas of heavy feeding. We have lots of snow so its tough looking in the fields.
  22. Congrats on the find, it is so great when you can find the antlers from a buck you have pics of. Good luck closing the deal.
  23. Very cool, I have been looking for something like this. Do you have something to display a set? I suppose you could just use 2 side by side? Good luck.
  24. I like to see the studies like this. Up here our government spends zero money on studies and not much of monitoring of any type, they seem to just make up limits based on complaints rather than based on science.
