1. Having a problem. Just bought new powder today so doubt that is it. So, i put in a fresh percussion cap and seat it the best i can. I fire it and the percussion cap does not go off (brand new caps bought last year). I pull back the plunger and fire it again and it goes off. Any ideas? Weak spring? I iust don’t k ow but my confidence is zero right now going into season. This ML is every bit of 25 years old so maybe its a weak spring in the plunger. Honestly, i just don’t know. What experience have u all had w this?
2. I don't have personal experience with this but have heard rumors, when the 209 ML's first came out, that there were accuracy issues with unsing the 209 primers. Primarily that you would get a "flier" here and there. This scared me away from them so I'm still shooting my Knight Wolverine with the #11 cap. I'm not complaining, this thing is a tack driver but I'm considering upgrading. My question is, have the 209 primers designed specifically for ML's "solved" the issue of "fliers"? If not, I'll stick with what I've got!
3. 80 grains of 777 and a 240 grain all lead bullet from prbullet.com , either the Extreme Elite or the Dead Center. Very little recoil and OUTSTANDING accuracy
4. I'm still using the TM Hunter style of arrow rest. I've had 2-3 instances now of the silicone covered prongs making noise when drawing and scaring of deer (Gold Tip 5575's if arrows matter). I'm looking at either quieting this rest or buying a new one. I've had the QDM HDX recommended to me but that baby is expensive (but worth it if it quiets things down). Can I get recommendations on what arrow rests you all use that are extremely quiet when drawing. Thanks
5. Saw 8 deer in the morning but no shots. Good thing because when I fired my round after the hunt, NOTHING. Went back that night and shot this doe just a few minutes after 6 o'clock Knight wolverine, 80 grains 777 and a 240 grain Precision Rifle Extreme Elite (pure lead) bullet. Now off to chase a buck!
6. Well, no worries on this end. I finally got out to shoot it today. Maybe an inch to the left of the bullseye on a clean barrel and centered the bullseye after a spit patch and dry patch. No more adjustments. Lets head to the woods and keep this barrel clean from now on!
7. Looks like I can get a stainless steel replacement barrel for $299 from Knight. Now the dilemma of buying a 22 inch or a 26 inch! It may not be necessary this year but it looks like a really good purchase option for the future. Thanks for your input!
8. Has CVA's quality improved since their early models? If I recall, many of their early ML's had quality issues. I contacted Knight through the "contact us" link on their website. We'll see what they say. This evening I scrubbed the barrel down with a 12 gauge copper brush and some Hoppes #9 solvent, dried it out with a few patches then swabbed it with some gun oil followed by a dry patch. It looks like there is a little pitting but mostly just on the surface, no huge gouges. The rifling appears to be intact all the way from the breach to the tip of the barrel. I'm going to shoot it this coming weekend and see how it shoots. At least there is time to buy a new smoke pole if the results are disastrous! I've got 3 plus weeks until ML season!
9. I've had my Knight LK-93 stored inside, in my gun safe since last year. I took it out last week and the barrel was rusted significantly. I cleaned it up and need to go shoot it but haven't yet.. IF it has lost accuracy (this thing is pinpoint accurate), anyone know if Knight can hook me up with a replacement barrel or maybe even Green Mountain Barrels? I'd really prefer stainless steel. Now, if barrel is not salvageable and I need a new ML, what are the suggestions? I'm not too much on 209 primers but may have to suck it up if my current barrel is toast. I like to buy good quality stuff but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. ($600 is top end of budget). I like the TC Pro Hunter. If it matters, most shots are withing 50 yards and I'm shooting a Precision Rifle Dead Center 240 grain all lead bullet with 80 grains of 777.
