  2. Part I: 1. Do you hunt managed private land that imposes a minimum buck harvest criteria? Is so, what is it? If more than one place with different criteria please state all of them. We Have a lease in the mid west that only 3 people hunt it. We only really have rule Big bucks and old does. The bucks we judge on a buck by buck bases. Is he mature? Does he have potential? 2. What is the penalty if you kill a buck that doesn't meet the criteria? We will never let you forget about!! 3. Do you agree or disagree with your hunting property's criteria? Why? Yes I set the criteria!! Part II 1. How many deer hunting seasons do you have behind you? 17 2. Do you have a self imposed buck harvest criteria and what is it? YES, SEE ABOVE IN PART 1
  3. Being an Iowa hunter I will not go out shotgun season! There are more and more people getting shot every year. The main reason is the hunting drives.I have seen a so called hunter unload on a running spike with no regard on whats behind the deer. I have also seen shotguners chase deer on 4 wheelers or in trucks. Shotguners in this state are a different breed. Now can you imagine the same hunters with rifles? The late rifle season is only in the southern counties with little population and a higher class of hunter. I would say here in my part of the state 80% of the shotgun hunters just shoot to kill not for the sport. While the bow and muzzle-loader hunters really care about what they are doing. That is why Iowa will not go to rifles for gun season.
  4. I take my ladder stands down every year. The land I hunt will have cattle in the summer. Cattle love to rub on ladders. I have a yamaha atv with a front and rear rack I take two stands at a time. One on the front and the other on the rear. I use the ratchet straps that I have to hold the stand in the tree and strap it to the atv. I also use zip ties to hold the sections of the stand together. If I had pics I would post them.
  5. I have had a lot of turkeys on my cam last fall and counted flocks over 30 during bow season. I even had some roosting around my treestand. This will be my first Turkey season I know there are a ton of them out there. Hopefully I can thin them out a bit.
