  1. Thank you all for your input. I went with the Tika T3 in .300 win mag. I have been really pleased with it thus far. I shot a doe Monday morning at about 160 yards. She dropped like a sack of taters! She dressed out at 101 lbs. I can't wait to have those backstraps on the grill!
  2. Let me start off by saying that I will be the first to admit that I still have much to learn in the world of ballistics. That being said, I don't consider myself completely naive on the topic either. On November 6, 2011 I celebrated my 3rd anniversary of enlistment in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. I got half of my enlistment bonus when I got home from basic training and just got the other half this week. I have decided that it is time for me to upgrade from my old .30-06 to something that can really reach out there and still have tons of knock down power. I live in central Oklahoma and have a deer stand that I leave up year round in a thick tree line that looks out over 120 acres of wheat. This being said, I want my new rifle to be a flat shooting caliber that still packs a good punch at long distances (I also have land I can hunt in North Dakota and have a cousin that lives in Alaska who wants me to go hunting up there sometime! Not to mention all the wild hogs I've got on my place!) Keep in mind, I am wanting to get something other than a .30-06. I don't have any issues with that caliber ... just want something different, something that I can use on deer, wild hogs, elk ... pretty much everything in North America I have done some research on my own and the 7mm rem mag seems like a decent choice, but so does the .300 win mag. I want something that I can easily find ammo for and not have to make a trip to one of the huge chain stores to find it. Any advice on this topic is much appreciated! Happy hunting!
