  1. I really do appreciate all the advice! If any of you would like to get a better look at the property look on google earth or yahoomaps at the property between darfler road and little burch hill on the little burch hill end.thats granville ny 12832
  2. we have gotten a good look at the property on google earth and walked the whole property boarders.the coon population is quite low there are a few avid coon hunters that keep them at low numbers.there is a herd of approximately 20 that maintains good numbers that traffics the property any on the farmers property on the other side of the dirt road there is a countless number of deer and 8-10 bucks harvested every season.what i want to do is get the herds from ascross the road attracted to our area.
  3. There are alot of oak and white oak in the area. There are also 3 bordering hay fields but no alfalfa clover or anything like that.next year there will be sweet corn and a raddish garden for the landowners tax writeoff.there is a large patch of pines we arent disturbing on the south end and a huge thicket of blackberry bushess on the northwest ent that covers 2/3 of a step down teer halfway down the hill that we have seen deer in and out of early morning and late afternoon.
  4. Hello. My brother in law his cousin and myself have recently stumbled across two bordering property owners who bought 110 acres between them. They have informed us that they want to grow a crop of swet corn and an assortment of other goods for a tax writeoff. They do not live in the area and kindly gave us written permission to hunt there land and requested we remove ant trespassers.I took it upon myyself to offer a helping hand when they start planting the harvest and asked if i could start a food plot on the bottom 5 acres that they do not plan on utilizing and they agreed.so this coming spring we start the grunt work and i am looking for some advuce on what to plant.i have started tilling in the lime to stabalize the soil over winter but i am still undecided on weather to go with biologic, rack attack or whatever else is out there.i am also pondering the thought of winter weat.any suggestions are greatly welcomed.thank you
  5. Shootinh the beaver and leaving them there wont fix a thing.if it were the beaver causing the flooding then the dam is alredy built.killing them is a stupid act of revenge when the town should have removed the dam.i am a swamp stomper and have been for 12 years and we also have had issues with beaver but we take a different approach.i am in upstste ny and when the dam just gets to much water over flowing into the harvest field and up to my ladder stand i just call a friend of mine who owns a slate quarry and he blows the dam out at the highest water point with dinomite.then with the beaver frantacly trying to rebuild in the next few days thu hunt is on.good luck to you and i hope you have a cool head when you talk to the township.get an effective plan on how to deal with the flooding together to present to them weather it be blasting the dam or removing a small portion of it with an excavator and then point out the stupidity of what they allowed and why it was far from effective.get them to work together with you and when they remove the dam you can start collecting furs.it always proves effective for me.good luck
  6. do a quick google search of gun auctions in your area and bring it to a pro
  7. i recently bought a single shot 12 guage that only says made in usa on the left side and has US in a sideways figure 8 and i am wondering if anyone knows what it is.
  8. I bought a new savage mark iv somewhere around $120.00 and put a 4 power tasco on it with see through mounts for the open sights. My 6 yr old has a blast with it.if you ask me savage is the way to go when getting a new .22.I have put around 1500 rounds through it myself and havent had a problem and as far as accuracy i am confident at 100 yards after getting firmilliar with the rifle.
  9. Thats what i was thinking. The wood stock is in really good shape.what is your thoughts on maybe getting it airbrushed?
