1. QAD on mine with no problems...
2. First car was a 79 Ford Maverick 3 on the tree and no power steering great car though...
3. Great Decision, I hope I run into him some time while I am in Command of a Unit. GL to him and Go Army!!!
4. Awesome bull good job to both...
5. I saw a bull behind Black Mountain in a meadow Sat night 20 min before dusk. One of the guys I was hunting with saw it too even though I was closer and started moving to it and he saw him and took off. He was about 1000yds from me and heading in. It was a rough road to get there but great set up. So at least I saw one. It was perfect weather when I was leaving and saw 10 mule deer. Perfect area just tough to find the elk. Maybe next time.
6. Thanks Jeff. I will keep everyone posted and safe travels everyone. If I do get the truck fixed I will be in camp by 12 or so on Friday.
7. My truck Hydro locked today. Luckily it was best case scenario and will be fixed tomorrow. This is becoming the most expensive hunting trip ever. So I hope it gets fixed tomorrow if not anyone got an open tent spot. One ring and injector failed and they said rear break pads are becoming bad so they are doing those for me too. I will make this trip if I have to hitch hike there. See you guys soon.
8. I have a 29ft travel trailer and made it back ok. Just have to watch the ruts. After the first turn to the left stay to the right where the ruts get bad and you should have no problems.
9. The clearing before us there was a horse trailer and two campers. The trail head before our camp there was three horse trailers and 4 trucks. Over by tobacco lake there was 2 horse trailers and 2 trucks. There wasn't a ton but about what I thought there would be. Where we will be camping there was no one.
10. Saw 4 Cows South of Tobacco lake, Bear Tracks were in the Conejos Peak Bowl down by the creek. The other 7 where down on the road on the way out right at dusk by the first little town you come to. Right past a couple of hunters that just came out the woods. Saw a lot of sign up by tobacco lake. I want to talk to Steve first but I think Canon Bonito would be good area. Cant wait to get this started I started loading the second load of wood today. I have a PT test tomorrow I did not want to over do it.
11. Here is a picture of the wood I dropped off. I have another load about the same size. I have a couple stumps I have not cut up yet either. I might throw those on top. I also posted some pictures of a creek I crossed and some bear tracks I found. There was any where from 2" to 1' of snow up high. I saw 11 elk and 1 good bull.
12. NO worries Charlie about this weekend I am still taking a load down there and will tarp it and put a sign on it for Steve that says Team Realtree Camp Wood. I should have plenty of wood for at least two camps. I rather cook over open fire but propane is quicker. I will have at least two truck loads. I will bring my maul, chainsaw and ax if anyone thinks we will need it. I have a couple stumps I have not gotten through yet. I think the closest diesel is Antonito. I will fill up before getting there. Charlie is right about dragging if you take the right tracks you wont have any problems if you have a long trailer. The weather for opening day is 51 high and 27 low as of right now. Food I am brining homemade biscuits, chilli, and beef stew. I plan on bringing summer sausage and power bars to take out in the field.
13. I have a truck load of wood going down this weekend and have at least another for when I come down for the hunt. I can bring a couple extra chairs as well. I am bringing my trailer so if anyone needs to use the tub they are more then welcome. I will have a generator with 14gal of gas and 20gal of water. I have a complete set of cast iron if anyone wants to use it. Let me know if anyone needs anything that I can pick up for them since I am already here. In two days we can look at opening days forecast. Thurs is high of 52 and low of 29.
