question about new property Only one way to find out go check it out for sign and set up and hunt it!
-
Ok I got this 50 acres to hunt now it's mostly timber with a couple bigger fields in the bottom that are green grass but u can see houses and the road from most of those. Im going in friday to hang a stand for saturday morning its not been hunted legally anyway for 10 years To the far west of the property and this is Me only looking at google earth there is a small probably 1 acre green field in the timber. It's about 60 yards from a big cut corn field. I was thinking this may be a good place to put a stand at edge of green field it looks like it's pretty flat but then back into woods to the east it drops off to a creek Just from knowing the area around it When I go Friday ill only have a very brief chance to hang stand and scout cause of work schedule. With just looking at google earth was just wondering what u guys thought. Should I just hang edge of green field where u can tell they are entering it? Or should I just get deep in there hang one on the ridge going down to the big green fields ?

Opinions on a spot *still

Opinions on a spot I'd say it could be a mega hideout for a big buck or when they are feeling the pressure that's where they head. You could be very successful in there. However you also run the risk of spooking them out of there if you go back in there. Remember as much as you practice scent control you will steal leave scent and a big buck will know when something has changed in his environment. In my opinion I might look for the best possible trail into that section and hang your camera there just on the fringes of the thick stuff. This way you might catch them going in our out but your not getting in there knocking them out.

just wanted to share Thanks all!

I had a bad weekend as I had two pieces of property I was hunting and then lost this weekend over stupid family squabble. I was pretty down and looking to hunt public land and a very small tract private land but about half hour away. I just found out tonight as Indiana firearm comes in Saturday that I have been granted permission to hunt just 3 miles down the road on a 50 acre piece of property. It hasn't been deer hunted for years unless people have snuck in but it is all timber with two small fields in the middle of the property it's about a quarter mile away from where I killed my first deer. I'm so excited about this I just wanted to share! My father in law and I are going to go Friday and scout a little ha g a stand then I'm headed out sat morning. I was so down and God blessed me again and lifted me up!!! I have only seen 2 deer all season where I was hunting about 8 miles away and I think that's about to change! Thanks all!

year from ****!! Same thing going on here too and I minimized going to the woods all year to once every 5 weeks to check cameras I think with the drought last year ehd has hit certain places very hard or maybe the population has taken a decline throughout the country

Hey all I haven't hunted much from the ground in the last 13 years I've hunted mostly tree stand a few times from a commercial blind and last year I actually killed a doe out of a barn window lol. Anyway I been posting on here about not seeing many deer what I was thinking of doing Friday night was sitting on the ground edge of cut corn field my wind looks good right now not blowing out to field any tips thinking of cutting a few limbs to lay around me break me up some I don't want to hang a stand. There is a low spot in the field going into the timber it's a drainage ditch a lot of green grass and a clump of trees about 25 yards from the timber thinkin of sittin on hillside up against the timber watch the field and drainage ditch. And see if anything comes from that group of trees or the timber to the field to feed or even the timber across the road the field over there is cut beans.

man I need help guys!! Well I haven't brought that up but in 2009 when I killed my buck I also killed a doe a month before and I saw deer every sit best year Ever. Last year and this year not good man. And I do know before season last year my wife grandpa saw 30 dead deer along creek about 1 mile down road and my buddy seen 13 coon hunting at night last year so that has been on my mind as well

man I need help guys!! I have a picture of the property it's easy to tell u can see my in laws house next to highway. That small field the corner my stand is 60 yards into the timber. I am not sure how to post this picture other than to my profile pics. Thanks for your help maybe u can see what I am describing. That gravel road on top screen that north west corner has cedars and is thick as it can be I was just staying out thinking they are bedding there they only own about 25 Ft Into the corn field so I can't hunt those trees out in the middle and whoever bought the Field has been removing the trees except the ones closest to the woods so far anyway

man I need help guys!! There is a major highway behind me to the east which the bean field runs too. Then to my left (south) is a dead end country road woods run to road and continue on other side with ag fields to my right (north) is several acres of woods getting very very thick ending with a gravel road with woods and fields on other side. Finally in front of me (west) is about 200 yards of woods ending at cut corn field. Was thinking of putting a stand at field edge for evening hunts.

man I need help guys!! Thanks guys I guess talking to my wife's grandpa there is an old wood stand in the thick stuff on the north side of the property. The people that used to own the property before they auctioned it were older lawyers that owned that property to hunt it they just got too old now to keep it now we own it! They say u can learn a lot from old timers and maybe putting another stand in there by the old stuff may be the ticket it's thick and there is a gravel road next to the wood lot with fields and timber on other side and trails going into the thick stuff from the road and when I say think I'm talking crouching down to get in thick stuff where there is no visibility but u get thru it and there is some cedars on a hill just on the edge of the cut corn that's where I'm thinking they are bedding down. Thanks guys ur help is already boosting my confidence!

man I need help guys!! There are still some corn and bean fields up would that hinder things for me. Just 4 years ago just quarter mile down the road I killed a170" buck and seen deer everytime I went. I just don't have permission there anymore cause we moved and it come with the house! There are some acorns and hickory and walnut but I think there red oak not white

I'm really getting discouraged hunting this year. I'm at a lose and don't know what to do. I've been hunting my in laws 23 acres of woods with a small 3 acre picked bean field. I'm sitting on a hill about 60 yards in the woods looking down the hill there is a creek at the very bottom and beyond that is a cut corn field. I have hunted it only on Saturday and Sunday the Last 3 weekends. There is sign all over lots of old rubs, trails, oaks and hickory trees and four new rubs. However I haven't seen a deer, not one the whole season and ours started oct 1st. I don't know what to do its bumming me out my trail cam over The last two weeks has had 2 deer on it a buck and doe each like 2 am and only once. All the rest of the woods I've stayed out of just to keep it un pressured and the north end is really thick so I'm afraid the deer are maybe Bedding in there any info would be helpful and appreciated. If I knew how to put a pic of google map on here I would just to give u idea!
