  1. Congrats! that's really awesome. I haven't won anything sense I was 9 and won my lifetime hunting and fishing license lol.
  2. im back! w a new bow! Just bought my first one back in March. PSE BruteX Deer Thugs. So far I really like it. Cant wait till October to get in the woods with it!!!
  3. Recommendations for new turkey gun.......... Can't go wrong with the good ol' 870. The R3 recoil pad is awesome for recoil pad works really well and I haven't shot one with Shure Shot stocks yet but I have handled a few and they feel awesome. The stocks can be had for about a $100.00 bucks so If not shooting 3.5 inch shells or having a full camo gun is a big deal to you I would look for a good deal on a used Express mag, put Shure Shots and a good choke in it have a gobbler killing machine for less than $500.00 bucks!
  4. Thanks for the link terry. That was a good read.
  5. Wandered into a local gun shop the other day that I hadn't visited in a few years and ended up trading the .38 that I kept in the glove box for a cute older savage. Its a 219 Single shot, with a 26 inch 30-30 Win. Barrel and a 30 inch 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch barrel. It has a sliding safety on the tang instead of an exposed hammer, combined with the classic lines of an old savage it makes this a very sharp looking rifle. It's very light and balances beautifully. Whats really neat is that it has no serial numbers, the barrels are stamped Utica NY my research Indicates that it was made between 1937 and 1948. I haven't shot it yet so hopefully it groups good. This makes my 6th savage rifle. I guess I'm addicted
  6. Tru-Glow red dot. I ended up choosing the Bushnell Trs-25. It had the best and most consistent reviews of all the ones in my price range. $99.00 shipped. I chose the B-Square base simply for the fact that I was able to pick up a brand new one on eBay for $20.00 ships. Will post pics when the arrive and are mounted on my gun.
  7. My parents are buying me a red dot and scope mount for my 870 express for my birthday. Any thoughts on the Tru-glows? Also can't decide between the polymer weaver saddle mount or the B-Sqaure.
  8. My girlfriend and I went to a gun show today, I had no intentions of buying anything.well not even 5 minutes in and she is buying herself her first gun! She picked out a nice used Mossberg 500 youth model with a 22 inch accu choke barrel. I have never patterned a 20 gauge for turkeys and am not sure what brand/model choke to buy. Any ideas?
  9. What new do-dads did you buy for this season? Been buying all sorts of stuff lately. 2013 PSE Brute x and the stuff to go with it, set of gorilla climbing sticks, two tree stand umbrellas,Cabela's backpack, scent eliminator supplies, box of Remington 20 Gauge turkey loads for the GF,Flextone Freak Nasty diaphragm call and the other night I traded into a Remington 7400 in .280 Rem.
  10. 2013 Season has begun! 2 SLAM's are complete Congrats!
  11. Well I have been wanting a rifle chambered in .280 Remington for years and I have also been wanting a Remington pump or auto loader for a long time as well. My best friend had a Remington 7400 in 280 given to him a few months ago, I have let his girlfriend deer hunt with my 700 BDL 30-06 the last two years and she loves it and has been bugging him to buy it off me so last night we swapped even! Can't wait to shoot this sweet little rifle.
  12. Anybody have any exprience with these arrows? Sportsmans Guide is selling them for $45.00 a dozen which is half as much as I'm paying for Carbon Express Heart Attacks.
  13. So this is going to be my first year bow hunting and our fall turkey season and early bow season run at the same time so I'm thinking I should have a couple turkey broad heads in my quiver while in the stand. Any advice on what kind I should try. I'm shooting Muzzy Mx-3 100 gr. for my regular broad heads so it would be nice to have something that shoots to the same point of impact as those.
  14. awesome buck! sounds like the encounter was was a wicked experience as well.
