Bullying..... What say you? Interesting thread. I think that the problem is far greater than parents not parenting or being politically correct. I mean just watch the news. People keep looking to place blame and no one wants to accept responsibility. We are a nation of people that don't care about our neighbors. That's not a parenting problem that's a problem with society. How as parents can we expect to raise our kids to respect other people when there is no respect in return? The fact of the matter is that until our society realizes that it wasn't that long ago that it was ok to be kind to one another and that it isn't all about the individual then nothing will change and it will only get worse. Bullying isn't a teenage problem. It happens to adults all the time. It's just called different names. Racism, anti-religious/2nd amendment/hunting ect. The fact is, is that we as a people cannot have a civil conversation about our differences. How can we expect our children to come to terms with each other's difference when we cannot come to terms with our own?? For example I am a democrat. Let's see how much bullying I experience in this forum.

having respect for fellow bow hunters and land owners I agree with what has been said and would add that getting something I'm writing is the way to go but I also agree that some land owners feel like they are losing control of their own property when papers get involved. This happened to myself and some friends of mine with property that we lease in Wisconsin. The old farmer liked having us up there (plus the money of course) but when we tried to get a multiple year deal from him he wasn't so keen on the idea. So we all agreed that a handshake deal and year by year basis was the way to go. In your situation I think the best way for you to go is to tell both your friend and his buddy that since the land owner is unhappy with the amount of deer harvested and since you had the original deal they need to find another place to go. Yes feelings will be hurt and friendships might be lost but if he really is a close friend you've known for years then eventually he will understand and get over it.

Crossbow Popularity I think that the increasing popularity of it is due to a couple of factors. 1) the walking dead. A character on that show shoots one and of course people think that it's cool so companies are eager to cash in on it. Hence the zombie killer arrows and bolts. 2) lots of states are implementing crossbow seasons. In Illinois they put a crossbow season starting the second Tuesday after shotgun season I think. So there is a dedicated bow season in the fall then a crossbow/bow season in the winter. 3) ease of use. The fact of the matter is that most casual hunters are lazy! And a crossbow is a lazy bow hunters tool IMHO. Now if you are unable to draw a standard bow I get it but the majority cross bow hunters are casual hunters. Sure there will be the hardcore guys that use them. But the simple fact is that it is hard to lean to shoot a bow and people like instant gratification. If you can shoot a rifle then you can shoot a crossbow. The same can't be said for a standard bow. I know it sounds like I'm bashing the crossbow but it does have its place. I want to get one to use in Wisconsin during gun season. Most of my shots there are under 50 yards anyway and I love bowhunting. I just wish that states would give it it's own dedicated season and not crowd the deer woods with lazy casual crossbow hunters during bow season.

Hiding on property with few trees. You have to subtract yardage and take the angle into account. I would think that by going higher that the penetration angle might become an issue. Depending on how close the deer get to the stand.

Hiding on property with few trees. Last year i had the problem with a blind and the deer seeing it. I hunt public so i cant leave it out and brush it in but lucky for me the doe i shot out of it was more curious than scared and stood nice and still trying to figure out what it was. If you're worried about spooking the deer with a blind and don't have the time to set it out ahead of time like was mentioned earlier a ghille suit or 3d leafy camo suit is another option. That way you can sit anywhere and blend in with very little effort and it gives you a little more mobility if the wind should shift. The downside is that you are totally exposed but hiding behind a tree or behind some bushes should help. Not to mention you have to be all over your scent control. I nailed a turkey with a bow this spring doing this at 15 yards and it was super exciting but one of the more difficult things I've done. Until I try it on deer this fall!

What was your first deer you shot with a bow? I spent 2003 in Iraq an a few friends I mine were big hunters and we spent the entire deployment watching monster buck videos! I had never hunted so I told them I was gonna kill a deer when we got back home. Fast forward to summer/fall 2004 I went out and bought a cheap golden eagle bow that was ready to hunt right off the shelf. I sighted it in and went hunting. No setup on it at all. The draw was probably 1 1/2 inches to short. But October came in norther Michigan and I put a stand up in a pine tree on some power lines on the edge of a field. Two does came out about 150 yards across the field. I hit the grunt call and one came in on a string right to the corn pile. I nailed her at 15 yards. She ran about 30 back into the field before she piled up. I had to go get a friend to tell me how to field dress her! The most amazing hunt of my life. My army buddies and I get together every November in Wisconsin to gun hunt every year now since.

Red Light Cameras I live near Chicago and they are all over the place here. I got a ticket by one last year and did some research into it. In Illinois as long as the camera has a sign within 100 feet of it it's legal. I watched the video and I was turning right on red. You could see my brake lights were on as I rolled through looking for traffic. I could have fought it and probably lost turning my $100 fine into much more with court fees. Now every morning I stop and wait for it to go green before I go much to everyone behind me displeasure. Bottom line is you have to stop at a red light. The cameras suck for sure and I agree with Adjam that they violate due process but it is cheaper to pay the fine via mail

best all around camp pattern Depends on when when and how you hunt. For deer in the late season if I'm in a tree stand I prefer a white camo. Especially if it's cloudy. If I'm on the ground I use the new xtra in a 3d leafy camo suit. I hunt in Wisconsin and Michigan so I try to steer clear of any green because of the early fall and late spring. The 3d suit was exceptional for turkeys this year. Then of course it blaze orange for gun season so I forgo the camo and play the wind

I've been playing the game for over 15 years and as I watched the **** and replays I can honestly say I thought Tiger was correct in where he dropped it. My thinking was in a straight line from the hole through the last spot the ball crossed the hazard. Jim Furyk put one in the lake from close to the same spot not 20 minutes earlier and moved back and took his drop. Of course I was wrong. The ball last crossed the hazard from the green side of the lake after it hit the flag. Furyks ball went in the lake on the fly. Hence my confusion with the rule. Now I can honestly say I've never encountered the situation Tiger did but under the circumstances I get he was flustered. All I'm saying is if I was confused and I had no vested interest I understand if he overlooked where the ball last crossed the hazard in the middle of the tournament.

theres Golf rules Then I guess we have Tiger rules And Tigers advantage was taken away with the 2 shot penalty. That is the prescribed penalty for playing a ball from the wrong spot/dropping in the wrong spot. The rules were applied fairly.

theres Golf rules Then I guess we have Tiger rules Actually muff the rules committee at Augusta decided before tiger finished his round that he had not violated any rules so when he signed his card it was correct at the time. It was only until the next morning that he was penalized. So according to the rules if Augusta had notified Tiger before the end of his round Friday then the penalty for playing a ball from the wrong spot is 2 shots not DQ. The club then decided that because of their failure it was not fair to disqualify Tiger because of their mistake but that the 2 shot penalty was correct because it was the original penalty for the infraction

hunting in the snow? Awesome thanks for all the info! Sound like ill be doing less calling and setting up on whatever food sources I can manage to find. I think i'llapproach it like a winter deer hunt. Just sit and wait on a food source and something's bound to show up. Thanks for the advice !
